Job Analysis
Human resource management is the major area of study that I have selected as my career
option. An in depth research into this area of specialization is conducted while using available e
books on human resource management. There is a list of topics covered in the book right in the
start of books which provides better insight of the covered areas in books. Summary of chapters
and some reviews of books are considered in the primary research into human resource
management. The three e books used for this job analysis and topic research are Career Guide to
America's Top Industries, 6th ed, Beginning Management of Human Resources, Fundamentals of
human resource management by Laura Dias and Human Resource Management, Global Edition
by Mondy, R. Wayne Dean. The major areas covered in these books are human resource
management functions. Planning, recruitment, selection, Orientation, Training, Reward system,
Growth & development and research & development are major topics covered under human
resource management (Schmitz, p.g.12).
The early HR practices were found in the ancient armies. The workforce used by these
people was not qualified and educated but they believed in organization of the work tasks
performed by them. HRM can also be found in the practices of craftspeople in England. They

used united force to improve the effectiveness of work. Human resource management practices
intensified with the emergence of industrial revolution in 18th century. Scientific management
also evolved with the developments in human resource management. Industrial psychology of
the workers wellbeing in HRM emerged in 1913. Different departments were created in order to
deal with the drastic changes in HRM (Itika, p.g.10). In 1920s employees conflict management
gathered importance in human resource management. Later on Hawthorne studies added to the
development of human resource management.
Human resource management as a major area of study has considerable implications for
businesses and other work practices around the globe. In the past, financing was only recognized
as useful capital for business and was managed effectively but now human resource is also
considered as capital source for business. Therefore, the need for management of this nature of
capital has also emerged. Companies have separate departments for human resource management
practices which are responsible to identify and meet the organizational needs for human
resource. In addition to separate department of companies for human resource management
practices, there are companies in existence which provide services to large organization for
recruitment of human resource (Dias). These companies are third party contractors and offer
their services for hiring of human resource for other organizations who have not established their
own system for human resource management.
There are different jobs which are apparent for individuals having specialization in
human resource management. Companies offer jobs on different hierarchal levels to human
resource management people. The jobs available for human resource management people are
Senior Human Resources Manager, Human Resources Support Supervisor, Recruiter, Senior
Human Resources Generalist, Senior Human Resources Specialist, HR Generalist Field,

Appraisal officer, Compensation officer, HR manager, Human Resource trainee and many other
jobs of this nature. The designation and name of job varies from company to company.
