What you should know about moulds

Moulds and bacteria represent an important economical and sanitary problem. They form tiny spores
that are emitted into the air in enormous quantities and can be breathed in. Because of their surface
characteristics, these spores can, amongst other things, trigger allergies. Moulds thrive in a moist
environment above 70 to 80%rh. Many dwellings are affected by visible mould. In order to avoid the
formation of mould, the surface humidity must be monitored and lowered below 70 %rh.
Standard hygrometers are ineffective for this purpose, because the crucial criterion for the growth of
mould - the surface dampness cannot be measured with them. The dampness of the wall coverings
can only be measured with the patented DampGuard. The sensor in the device is positioned directly
upon the surface.
The DampGuard indicates the instantaneous surface dampness with light emitting diodes and assists
the user in finding a ventilation regime to prevent critical surface dampness. The measurement value
of the surface relative humidity is indicated by four coloured LEDs.

Notes:
1. Living rooms must be ventilated 3 to 5 times a day for about 5 minutes each time. Ventilating several
rooms at a time will give an effective change of air throughout the house. Continuous ventilation of a
room has no lasting effect unless the adjoining rooms are ventilated at the same time.
2. Ventilating through windows in the tilted position is counter-productive and leads to unnecessary
heat losses. Lintels can cool down considerably in winter, which promotes the unwanted formation of
condensation in this area.

3. Place large items of furniture 5-10 cm from exterior walls in order to allow the air to circulate.
4. Keep rooms with a particularly high moisture level or a low temperature closed. Ventilate these rooms with the doors shut until the humidity in the rooms has reduced.
5. In basements, in contrast to rooms above ground, mould may also form in summer, if warm, moist air is in contact with the cold walls. In summer, particular consideration
should therefore be paid to the ventilation of basement rooms.

EasyLog-USB-1 is a temperature data logger featuring a measuring range of -25 to 80C and logging capacity of up to 16382
temperature records.
EasyLog-USB-2 is a combined humidity / temperature logger, featuring measuring ranges of 0 to 100 %rh / -25 to 80 C and logging
capacity of up to 16,382 / humidity / temperature records. The software is included and features integrated dew point calculation.
Red or green blinking LEDs indicate the actual recording status. The loggers feature a replaceable Lithium battery, enabling continuous
logging for approx. 1 year (depending on the sampling rate, environmental temperature and use of LEDs). The loggers comply with
protection class IP67, provided the protection cap is placed correctly.
EasyLog-USB-CO
The new EasyLog-USB-CO is a carbon monoxide logger. It can log up to 32510 records in a measuring range of 0 to 1000ppm in
an operating range of 10 to 40 C. Red and green blinking LEDs or an acoustic signal indicate measurement values exceeding the
programmed threshold values.
The user friendly software is included and enables the user to configure the loggers easily and quickly (measurement interval,
engineering units, hi / low alarms, start time and date). It may also be used for data transmission and backup, as well as for graphical
display of the measured data. The software is Windows 98/2000/XP compatible.
