Surigao mine of Global Ferronickel Holdings, Inc. not


recommended for suspension
Mine operations remain on-track to end the 2016 mining season on a high
note
Manila, September 27, 2016. In a press conference earlier today, the
Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) released the
official results of the mining audit they conducted. After a review of the
tenement, mine environmental management, safety and health programs and
social development projects of Platinum Group Metals Corporation (PGMC),
the DENR announced that PGMC is allowed to continue its mining activities
without suspension.
PGMC is the operating arm in Cagdianao, Surigao del Norte of Global
Ferronickel Holdings, Inc. (FNI). Following the announcement, FNI, the
second largest nickel producer in the country and the largest single lateritic
mine exporter in the world, remains committed to build value for its
stakeholders.
The Audit Team, led by a representative from the DENR-Biodiversity
Management Bureau Central Office and assisted by members of the Regional
Offices of DENR Regional Office, Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB),
Environmental Management Bureau (EMB), Department of Agriculture,
Department of Health and members of various socio-civic organizations,
visited FNI's Cagdianao mine last August 2016 to determine the adequacy
and efficiency of the environmental protection measures of mining operations"
and compliance with "mining and environmental laws."

the environment and we are taking every step to improve the welfare and
quality of life in the communities in which we operate, said Atty. Dante R.
Bravo, President of FNI.
As testament to FNIs focus on protecting and preserving the environment, the
Company has been granted ISO 14001:2015 Environment Management
Systems Certification for its operations in Surigao. It has received notification
from the MGB that it has been shortlisted as a contender for the Presidential
Mineral Industry Environment Award (PMIEA), the Mining Forest Programs
(MFP) Best Mining Forest and the Safest Mines Awards. The awards are
bestowed upon deserving companies for their outstanding levels of
dedication, initiatives and innovations in the pursuit of excellence in
environmental protection, safety and health management and social &
community development.
We are delighted that our efforts in environmental and social compliance are
being recognized. Rest assured that our programs for the betterment of the
community in which we operate in shall continue to grow from strength to
