Initial rhyme: the rhyming words occur at the beginnings of lines and
its called head rhyme;
Internal rhyme: Occurs within a line of verse and its called interlaced
rhyme.
End rhyme: Occurs at the end of a line and its called terminal rhyme.
c. How many types of end rhyme are there? Can you find an
example for each type?
There are 5 types of end rhyme:
1. Couplet: He was wearing a big hat,
But it was more like a cat.
2. Enclosed rhyme: Lightening, thunder, all around
Likely we were in my house,
Where I shocked when I saw a mouse,
And suddenly, the rain falls on the ground.
3. Alternative rhyme: I was looking at the sea
Nobody was there with me,
I swam a lot so deep,
Because a dolphin I want to be.
4. Interlocking rhyme: Autumn sends leaves tumbling to the ground,
The sun sinks lower leaving longer nights
Conkers and acorns waiting to be found,
5. Crossed rhyme: The sound flung on the air,
and this song is sung by a bird on the tree.
