PLANT LAYOUT OF PARAGON APPARELS PVT. LTD

Paragon apparels pvt ltd., has three floors of sewing and cutting while
basement is dedicated towards fabric and trim stores. Each sewing floor is
considered as a separate unit i.e. unit 3, unit 4 and unit 5. Earlier, every unit
had its own cutting department for proper feeding of the cut panels. Each
unit had 2 cutting tables, 1 band knife machine, 2-3 straight knife machine.
The spreading was done manually once the fabric has been received and
relaxed. The ERP room makes the plan for the cutting department and then
the most efficient cut plan is followed. Once the spreading and cutting is
done, the panels are bundled and ticketed and then it is sent for embroidery/
printing or kept in the shelf for future use.
The changed layout suggested by me was that, instead of having 3 separate
cutting departments, one cutting department should be enough to meet the
needs. All the 6 cutting tables should be kept in unit 3, i.e. the first floor and
cut panels are then fed to every other unit. The advantage of this layout is
that one record and one planning will be required to cut the fabric. The
management of the cut panels would be easier to make. One more aspect of
this layout would be the saving in terms of manpower when only one cutting
department is present as compared to three.
