The information in this bulletin is a snapshot of weekly activities in
our church and community. It showcases new events that may not be
present in our monthly newsletter. The Weekly News is also posted
on our website: www.esumc.net along with other news and events.
If you want your activity to be included, please make your
submissions to the church office before 10 a.m. on Tuesdays.

Welcome Visitors!
If this is your first time worshiping with us, we welcome
you. As a church we are committed to Love Jesus Christ
and to Share His Love. We offer three services: 8:30 and
11 a.m. are traditional, and 9:45 a.m. is contemporary.
~ Our Welcome Center is located in Oberholtzer Hall, the room next
to the sanctuary. Brochures on all our ministries are available there.
~ Our Holy Grounds Café is a place for light refreshments and coffee
from 8:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. each Sunday in our Fellowship Hall. The
café provides worshipers with an informal opportunity for fellowship.
~ Our Infant and Toddler Nurseries are available every Sunday from
8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. They are located on the lower level of the church
and are staffed with our full-time, professional attendants and parent
volunteers.
~ Children’s Church for ages four through third grade is offered at the
11 a.m. service and is guided by a parent volunteer. Children will be
dismissed after the Children’s Message. Please pick up your children
in the lower level of the church following worship.
Ministry
Opportunities for Congregational Care and Service to the Church
It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be
prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors
and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of
service, so that the body of Christ may be built up. Ephesians 4:11-12
In Ephesians 4 Paul talks about pastors and other leaders as gifts God
has given the church "to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for
building up the body of Christ." Stephen Ministry has given us an
organized way to equip those gifted for caring ministry so that they can
build up the body of Christ by providing Christian care and support to
those experiencing a difficult time.
Beginning September 8, an in-depth training course will be offered
for members who desire to become involved in this life changing
ministry. Stephen Ministry Sunday is July 18, and a weekly emphasis
will continue each Sunday through the month of August. For more

New Support Groups at Pocono Medical Center. An Alzheimer's
support group will meet the third Tuesday of every month from 5-6 p.m.
An amputee support group will meet the second Saturday of each month
from 2-3 p.m. For information, see the fliers on the Congregational
Care Bulletin Board in Oberholtzer Hall.
Items Available: A case of ThickenUp, an instant food thickener for
people who have trouble swallowing, is available to anyone who can use
it by calling Peggy at 421-3280, ext. 23. A Free Hospital Bed, in
like-new condition, is available for anyone in need. If interested, call
Nancy, 420-9007.

The Line-Dance Planning Team will have their final meeting from
12:15 - 12:45 p.m. today in the Bridal Lounge. Anyone willing to help
is invited. Persons are needed to supervise a short period of games, face-
painting or other activities for young children. Items for the silent

Music Ministry Opportunities are still available for June, July and
August during the 8:30 and 11 a.m. services. Persons interested in solo
or small ensembles in a variety of music styles are invited to see Pauline

Family Promise June Fundraisers - For more information visit their

family and help support this ministry.
1. Friday, June 11 from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. Clothing Drive at Faith United
Methodist Church. They are also collecting shoes, belts, handbags,
backpacks, briefcases, hats, gloves, ties, linens, blankets, fabric
curtains, sheets, tablecloths, towels and stuffed animals.
2. Thursday, June 17 at Friendly’s (E.Stroudsburg) from 5 - 8 p.m.
Please mention Family Promise when ordering your meal.
3. Saturday, June 19 is a Penny Party at Stroudsburg United Methodsit
Church at 6 p.m. Bring your penny jars and enjoy a Tricky Tray,
50/50 and Food.
Prayer and Praise
If you have a prayer request, please list it either on the prayer sheet in
the rear of the sanctuary or on the back of the friendship pad. Please be
sure to include your name on the request. This aids us in updating our
weekly prayer requests. Confidentiality is very important. We, as a
church family, want to honor each person's right to privacy. Please be
mindful of this as you write your requests.

Monday, June 14 at 11:30 a.m. for a Casserole Party with guest speaker
Sandy Gordon from Gorman Chiropractic Life Center. Bring your
favorite casserole to share. Desserts and beverages provided.
Saturday Night Fellowship meets June 19 from 6:30-8 p.m. in
Fellowship Hall. Summer is here, time for hamburgers & hotdogs. Bring
a cold side dish to share. Loretta Anthes will lead devotions. This is a
great opportunity to bring a friend and share in fellowship.

Opportunities That Deepen Discipleship Through Learning
Women of Faith is September 10-11, 2010 in Philadelphia, PA. Kelli
Mercurio is excited about this year’s event. She wants to take 50 women
from our church and community! Tickets are $89 and includes two box
lunches. Payments this year can be made on-line using a charge card at
www.gps.womenoffaith.com (group name ESUMC, East Stroudsburg,
PA). Kelli will be in Fellowship Hall to answer any questions you may
have. She also has gift certificates if you would like to treat a special
woman in your life. Invite a friend and experience this event together.
Joe Corby’s Pizza Sale is now in progress. Place an individual order or
get a form to take multiple orders in Fellowship Hall today. Deadline for
ordering is June 13, Pickup is Saturday June 26 from 9 a.m. - noon.
Proceeds benefit the Spiritual Life Retreat.
Children's Ministry - Birth to 6th Grade
Backyard Buddies/Lord's Army (rescheduled due to rain) will meet
Tuesday, June 8 for the last meeting of the year. Bikes can be dropped
off during the day. If your Stroudsburg student needs transportation or
if you can help with bike transport, let Sue Randall know. Families are
welcome to join us for the potluck picnic at the McDade Trail around 5
p.m. Hot dogs will be provided; families should bring a dish to share.
College-Aged Ministry – F.O.G.

Opportunities That Deepen Discipleship Through Learning
Youth Ministry - 7th - 12th Grades
6th graders entering 7th grade next year are invited to join in
Jr. High and Youth Group Programing.
Youth Sunday School Classes for all youth in 7th - 12th grades meet
weekly at 11 a.m. in the Youth Room.
Sunday Night Youth Program will meet from 7-8:30 p.m. The evening
will consist of fellowship, worship and message and games.
Last Week for Thursday Night Bible Studies - Youth meet in the
Youth Room from 7-7:20 p.m. for fellowship and then break into small
groups for Bible study from 7:30– 8:30 p.m.
Summer Bible Studies and Pool Time are scheduled for Wednesday,
June 23, Thursday, July 15 and Thursday, August 5. Watch the Weekly
News for times and places.
J.A.M (7th and 8th grade outreach), will return in September along
with the Jr. High Boys Bible Study. Thanks to all the volunteers and
Jr. High Students who made these programs a success during the 2009-
10 school year.
2010 Summer Mission Trips - Sr. High Mississippi Trip for students
completing 8th -12th grades is Friday, July 23 – Sunday, August 1. Jr.
High Pittsburgh Project Trip is Monday July 5 – Friday July 9 for all
students going into 7th or 8th grade. A $70 non-refundable deposit is
needed to reserve your spot. See Scott Kuhnle for more information.
Creation 2010 - If you are interested in attending this trip from June 30-
July 4, please email Scott at skuhnle@esumc.net. The total cost for the
trip is $130 per person.
Two Upcoming Fundraisers to raise monies for your summer trips. A
Car Wash at the church Saturday, June 12 and a Candy Bar Sale.
