Andrew Jackson.

A not-so-great president after

all.
Andrew Jackson, born in 1767. 7th President of the United States of
America. A proud general who won the battle of New Orleans & kept the
Creeks from attacking nearby Georgians. A great guy, right? Wrong. That is
about every good thing he ever did throughout his life. Andrew Jackson can
and should be considered one of the worst presidents ever to take office.
As a child of only 13, Jackson decided that it would be a good idea to
refuse to shine a British officers boots and see what would happen. Bravery?
Its flat out stupidity. You should never get smart with someone who has a
rifle around his back and a sword in his hand, as well as two more buddies
waiting outside the door. As a result of his inability to listen to those who
have authority over him, he got a big scar across his face. In 1832, after
Andrew Jackson was elected President, he vetoed the renewal of the second
bank of the United States. That bank ran all of the money transactions, gave
out loans, and issued state budgets. Now if you have a computer and you
take out the plug, the whole thing stops working right? Well think of the
computer as economy and the bank is the power cord. Andrew Jackson
basically ripped the power cord out of Americas economy. A little while later,
smaller banks were created and governments money was deposited in
those. But guess what, Jackson didnt end up liking his idea of smaller banks
and as a result, he stopped accepting banknotes for land claims which made
people doubt the real value of them. Maybe you should learn to thing about
the consequences of your actions before you decide to try and run a country.
The last big issue that Jackson played a part in was the Indian Removal Act.
Once again, were back to Andrews inability to listen to people who have
authority over him. The Supreme Court told everyone to stop bothering the
natives about their land, but what did Jackson do? He ignored them. He flat
out disregarded the Supreme Courts ruling simply because he didnt agree

with it. You cant be a good president if you cant deal with someone having a
different opinion than you, especially if that someone (or group of someones)
holds authority over you.
Andrew Jackson wrote a letter to the Native Americans regarding the
Supreme Courts ruling. Ill sum it up for you, he said, Circumstances that
cannot be controlled, and which are beyond the reach of human laws render
it impossible that you can flourish in the midst of a civilized community
One remedy within your reach to remove to the West. Then he started
comparing the Cherokee with the Creeks saying, Look at the conditions of
the Creeks Committing depredations upon the property of our citizens
Cannot be allowed Punishment will follow. Ok, Im going to start at the
beginning of that. If Andrew Jackson had tried in the slightest to enforce the
court ruling, then it would have been controllable, and it was most definitely
not out of the reach of human laws, it doesnt violate anyones constitutional
rights to create a law against harassing the Indians, in fact, it would have
protected their rights. Both their rights to Life & Property were being violated
by Andrew Jackson ignoring the ruling. Andrew also says that they cant live
amongst civilized people. Just because the Indians are a peaceful and
humble people doesnt mean that they arent civilized; in some ways, theyre
even more civilized than Americans were at the time. He then starts to act
like hes helping them by letting them relocate to the West and trying to
solve their problem, which was really just the fact that the Americans cant
handle the Indians sitting on land and gold that they want for themselves.
Afterwards, he starts to say that because the Creeks committed crimes (and
that all Indians are apparently the same) that the Cherokees deserve to be
punished and are being allowed to leave their property. If the Andrew
Jackson had cared the smallest bit about the Indians, then they would have
been left alone, and 4,000 of them wouldnt have had to die because
Americans decided to get greedy. There is a drawing by an unknown artist
that illustrates Andrew Jackson and his army releasing a ton of blood hounds

to murder hundreds of Indians as they try to plead for sympathy. A decent

President would have at least taken 5 seconds out of his life to listen to the
Indians cries for mercy
Andrew Jackson, born in 1767. 7th president of the United States of
America. An idiotic, incompliant, selfish, greedy, uncompassionate, man that
cant anticipate the consequences of his own actions. He is by far, the worst
president that has ever been chosen to lead this supposedly free country
that cant even manage to protect some innocent Native Americans rights.
(An argumentative essay for History. I agree that most of these points are a
little bit harsh, I was just trying to get the point across)
