Introduction
CAD means Computer Aided Design which refers to the use of information technology in
design processing. Conspicuously, CAD system consists of specialized software and IT
hardware, and this makes the use of graphics for product representation. Notably, computer aided
design maybe the use of computers to support in the creation process, analyzation, optimization
of design and modification. Moreover, CAD software is utilized by the designer to increase his
productivity and improve his quality, create a database for manufacturing and improve
communication through documentation. Similarly, the CAD output needs to express information,
such as materials, dimensions, processes and tolerance in line to the specific accords just as in
the manual drafting of technical and engineering sketches1. Furthermore, it is an important
industrial art used in many applications, including shipbuilding, aerospace industry, automotive
and industrial architectural design. Irrespective of the popular performance of the numerous
CAD systems, the 3D and 2D application in the system makes their work more efficient and
effective like in the architectural and engineering work.
CAD systems
Currently, systems for mechanical products are the 3D system, and this is spreading to the other
sectors. Notably, 3D modeling can be a wire Frame, surface or solid modeling and the wire
frame modeling was the chief attempt to epitomize the 3D object. Moreover, some of the midrange manufacturing sector CAD systems are feature Founded Solid modeling systems and
parametric2. Furthermore,2D wire frame model in simple terms is made by establishing the
skeleton of the part consisting only of edges. Therefore, the systems have the capability of

modeling nearly every mechanical part, such as airplane surface and the automobile surfaces,
plastic parts and packaging in general, metallic parts and shipbuilding. As a result, this will help
you work more efficiently, save time and avoid common mistakes thus increase in creativity.
CAD application in the industrial sector.
Computer aided designs have been applied in many industrial sectors globally.
Particularly, the largest user of the CAD is the mechanical sector. Besides, its application is
usually coupled with manufacturing and forming a computer aided design system, and this
covers all types of manufacturing operations such as milling and turning. In addition, there are
various CAD vendors for numerous applications such as the mechanical vendors and the
Autodesk Architectural Desktop3. Furthermore, the 3D software is precision and each component
of a product or a machine and a building can be analyzed and measured separately. As a result,
working with 2D and 3D is comfortable, helps to develop a deeper connection with the design,
shortens design cycles and improves the quality of the deliverables.
Applied in the apparel industry
A slight number of companies are offering systems for the apparel sector globally. Notably, the
clothing system is rather expensive because of the use of specialized equipment, such as cutters
for patterns, plotters and automatic machines for the fabric cutting. Thus the application ranges
from the fashion design of the manufacturing and the largest usage of the system are in pattern
design and lay plans. Moreover, it is of high importance for all companies subcontracting a large
supplier to be In a position to handle pattern design also known as electronic data. Therefore,

with the 3D and 2D in CAD, sampling in the industry is easier with the connection to the ink-jet
printer which is capable of printing fabric for a quick sampling.
Conclusion
The application of 3D and 2D in computer aided design is described and analyzed in
various norms. As computers are used to create, analyze and modify a design, the dimension is
also considered in the product. Notably, the Autodesk's digital prototyping tools help engineers
and inventors experience their 3D CAD design virtually before they are built. Besides, the digital
prototyping solutions help optimize 3D CAD designs, contributes to driving innovations and
achieve higher quality with speed time market. In addition, the building information modeling
software helps designers and engineers to assimilate a way of exploring a projects key physical
and functional physiognomies digitally. Therefore, the use of an intelligent 3D and 2D model
helps in communication and information storage.
