EMC Celerra NS20 System
Welcome:
The NS20 system you are about to install comes factory pre-loaded with
Celerra Network Server software (DART) and storage array software
(FLARE). DO NOT PERFORM A FRESH SOFTWARE INSTALL.
Software Upgrade:
If you or your customer bought a software maintenance contract (listed on
their sales order), they are entitled to a software upgrade, which you may
perform only after the Celerra Startup Assistant has completed successfully.
Site Preparation:
Complete site preparation activities before installation. These activities
include:
Verify network connections
Verify power requirements
Verify rack space requirements
Sales Order:
Verify that you are installing an NS20 or NS20FC (Fibre Channel) system with
either one or two NAS blades by looking on the sales order. The NS20FC sales
order will include the Fibre Channel enabled option (NS20-FCOPT-L). If there
is a model NS21C-A or NS21C-A-FD on the sales order, you are installing a
single-blade system. If there is a model NS22C-A or NS22C-A-FD on the sales
order, you are installing a dual-blade system. In addition, the sales order lists all
optional software you are entitled to use. You will be using this information during
installation.
Troubleshooting Download:
If you do not have Internet access at the customer site, you should download the
latest installation troubleshooting information prior to arriving onsite. Download
the latest installation troubleshooting bundle from the Celerra Tools site on
Powerlink and bring it to the installation site.
Go to http://Powerlink.EMC.com. Select Celerra Tools from the navigator. Select

Use the Celerra Startup Assistant to complete the installation of the NS20 system. The
Celerra Startup Assistant is on the Celerra Applications & Tools CD. It is recommended
that you create an initial CIFS share or NFS export and register the NS20 system.
If you did not register the NS20 system as part of the Celerra Startup Assistant, you
must register the system before the customer can receive service.
If you are installing a NS20FC version with the additional Fibre Channel ports and
would like to connect additional hosts to the CLARiiON array, download the procedure
from the Celerra Tools page on http://Powerlink.EMC.com.
Use Celerra Manager to complete the NS20 configuration after Celerra Startup Assistant is run to delete the CSA share or export, configuring the remaining disks in your
storage array.
If you are installing the NS20FC version, you must install the Navisphere Service Taskbar and Navisphere Off-Array Manager before you can use Celerra Manager to complete the Celerra configuration.
