REGULATION ORDINANCE NO. 2015-148
AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE MONTH OF MARCH AND EVERY
YEAR THEREAFTER AS "WOMEN'S MONTH" IN THE CITY OF ILOILO
AND FOR OTIIER PURPOSES

WHEREAS, Article II, Section 14 of the Philippine Constitution provides that the State
recognizes the role of women in nation building and shall ensure the fundamental equality before the
law of women and men;
WHEREAS, Republic Act 7192 otherwise knov.n as "Women in Development and Nation
Building Act" promotes the integration of women as full and equal partner of men in development
and nation building;
WHEREAS, Republic Act 9710, otherwise known as '"'The Magna Carta of Women" which is
a comprehensive women's human right law that seeks to eliminate discrimination against women by
recognizing, respecting, protecting, fulfilling and promoting the rights of Filipino worne~ especially

WHEREAS, in declaring the month of March of every year as Women's Month, the City of
Iloilo will have an official celebration that would give honor and recognition to the worle of women in
our society.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Sangguniang Panlungsod of the City of lloilo, that:
Section 1. - TITLE. - This ordinance shall be known as "AN ORDfNANCE DECLARING
THE MONTH OF MARCH AND EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER AS "WOMEN'S MONTH" IN
THE CITY OF lLOfLO AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES".
Section 2. -Declaration of Policy. - It is provided in the Constitution of the Philippines and a
declared policy of the State to affirm the role of women in nation building and open a wider arena for
their active participatory role in the development process and provide them equal opportunity.
Section 3. - Definition of Terms. - As used in this ordinance, the following terms shall mean,
to wit:
WOMEN - refers to female persons.
WOMEN'S MONTH- refers to the celebration every month of March in the City oflloilo to
give honor and recognition to the role of women in our society.
Section 4. - In line with the declared policy of the state in recognizing the vital role and
contribution of women in the society, the C.ity Government oflloilo thru its Gender and Development
Team shall ensure the realization of a month long activities for women.
Section 5. - Implementing Rules. - In implementing the intent of this ordinance, the Chief
Executive thru the Gender and Development Team shall undertake the necessary measures and
monitor the effective implementation of this ordinance.
Section 6. - SEPARABILITY CLAUSE. - ln the event that any provision of this ordinance is
declared invalid, other provisions thereby shall remain in full force and effect.
Section 7. - REPEALING CLAUSE. All local laws, rules and regulations which are
inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed and modified accordingly.
Section 8. - EFFECTIVITY CLAUSE. - This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon
approval.
