The Independence Day football tournament kicked off at Deomali on July 25th. The tournament was inaugurated by SJ Jongsam, Conservator of Forest. He asked players to maintain good sportsmanship both on and off the field and underscored the importance of sports. Jongsam thanked Wangki Lowang, local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary for Sports and Youth Affairs for sponsoring the tournament. The inaugural match was between Namsang village and NCI, Deomali. Nineteen teams are participating in the tournament organized by a committee chaired by the SDO with Rangkap Arang as President and Mongde Hondik as Secretary.

Khonsa July 25: The Independence Day football tournament kick-started on 25th July at Deomali. The tournament was inaugurated by SJ Jongsam, Conservator of Forest. In his inaugural address, Jongsam asked the players to maintain sportsman spirit both on and off the field. He also underscored the importance of games and sports adding that many sportsmen have made sports as their career. Jongsam thanked Wangki Lowang, local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary for Sports and Youth Affairs for sponsoring the tournament. Earlier, the Chief Guest released a white dove as a symbol of peace amidst a huge gathering of football lovers. The inaugural match was played between Namsang village and NCI, Deomali. The tournament is being organized by a committee of which the SDO is the Chairman, Rangkap Arang is the President and Mongde Hondik is the Secretary. The organizers have appealed the participants to maintain peace and harmony throughout the tournament. Altogether 19 teams are participating in the important tournament.
