Large built-in two-color digital display (LX2-V10W)

The measurement can be quickly
confirmed from the built-in display.
The numeric value can be displayed in either red or green,
depending upon the HIGH/LOW
settings.

User display selection options

Measurement value can be displayed in inch (Mil), metric (mm) voltage
or percentage (%).

Three sensors in one!

3-level output for presence/absence and size detection
One LX2-V unit can be used for
applications that normally require
several photoelectric sensors.
Moreover, the auto-timing function
eliminates the need for a synchronizing sensor.

One sensor detects the tightness and

presence/absence of caps.

Highly accurate differentiation

The position or size of targets can be accurately differentiated down to
5 m 0.20 Mil.

Differentiation of transparent objects

The LX2-V Series can differentiate
minute differences in the light
quantity passing through transparent objects. This allows the
differentiation between one or two
sheets or shades of transparent
film.

Minute difference in light quantity is reliably

measured.

Unaffected by dirt or temperature change

The light quantity adjustment function (Auto-Gain Control) cancels any
errors due to specular changes. This ensures continuous highaccuracy differentiation.

Operating principle
The laser beam emitted from the transmitter laser diode is converged
into a parallel beam by a projecting lens. After the laser beam passes
through a slit on the receiver, it is then focused on the light-receiving
element (photo-diode). The LX2-V Series then measures the target as
it passes through the parallel laser beam. The change in the shadow
size is then translated into the change in received light quantity
(voltage). The resulting voltage is used as a comparator and analog
output.

3. Repeatability
Repeatability refers to the positioning accuracy of a target that enters the detecting
area at a right angle to the thick portion of the detecting area (see Fig. 1).
When a target enters the detecting area at a right angle to the width portion of the
detecting area (see Fig. 2), the positioning accuracy is as follows (typ.):
LX2-11: 0.002 mm 0.00008"
LX2-12: 0.001 mm 0.00004"
LX2-13: 0.003 mm 0.0001"

Functions LX2-V10W
Reference light quantity registration
(Auto Gain setup)
The quantity of light received when the sensor head is
originally positioned can be registered as the reference
light quantity. By adjusting the quantity of light, the
change in measurement values caused by dirt on the
sensor head, temperature fluctuations or extended use
can be eliminated.

displayed as a percentage. The
optical axis can be perfectly
aligned by simply positioning the
transmitter and receiver until the
highest reading is displayed.

The display value can be immediately reset to 0000.

Analog voltage output

Analog voltage (0 to 5 V) proportional to the displayed
value can be output.

Average function

HIGH/GO/LOW outputs

The number of averaging measurements can be

selected according to the target speed and required
