National Law University, Orissa

5th Semester B.A.LL.B./B.B.A.LL.B. 2014

IPR (Project Topics)
1. Each project topic is assigned to two students (except few) to work in a group.
2. Each group is expected to carefully go through some basic research material in the area (like standard text book, some
cases and other related material); and to meet the course teacher subsequently for guidance.
3. It is not advised to meet the course teacher without having preparatory reading or some initial research.
4. Projects may be typed on computer or may be handwritten on A-4 size paper with 1.5 margin in the left side and 1
margin on the right, with suitable margin at the top and bottom. Page nos. should be indicated at the centre top of the
page. The font size of the words should be 12 and there should be 1.5 spacing between the lines.( For detail please see
NLUO Examination Rules 2010)
5. The projects need not necessarily be spirally bound, but should be firmly stitched or pinned.
6. The projects should be between 4000-5000 words excluding Research Question, Scope, Objective, Research
Methodology, foot notes, abbreviation page, table of contents, table of cases and bibliography.
7. Bibliography should only be of those books that are made use of in writing the project. Table of cases should contain only
those cases actually read by the students (either wholly or partially) for the project.
8. All the groups will submit the soft copy of the project to the course teacher. Only thirty per cent turnitin text (excluding
foot notes) match will be allowed. If text match will be more than thirty percent then project will be rejected without
giving an opportunity to resubmit. Any text match should not be more than six per cent (Except quotation) at a place
within thirty per cent limit. No student will check his/her project on turnitin otherwise it will reflect hundred per cent
text match at the time of final checking which will result into rejection of project.
9. Any kind of change in project topic without written permission of the course teacher will lead to rejection of the
project.
10. Project Consultation:
Project Consultation is optional. There will not be any marks for consultation.
