intellectual contexts
Note: No previous knowledge of music is
required

Test Dates

Test #1: Wednesday, January 29 (20%)


Test #2: Wednesday, March 12 (20%)
Test #3: Tuesday, April 1 (20%)
The Pinal exam will take place during the
Pinal examination period (April 10-29)
(40%)

The PowerPoint slides for every lecture will be
posted on Avenue before class starts.
During lecture, dont write down what the
slides say. Print them out ahead of time or have
them on your computer so that you can refer to
them during class.
Spend class time adding information,
explanations, and extra details to the slides.
These notes that you take in class will be your
best resource when you study for the tests and
Pinal exam.

Purchase our textbook and CDs either from the
bookstore or online through MyMusicLab
Read pp. 1-15 on The Elements of Music and listen to
tracks 1-18 in order to gain an understanding of these
