Monday: The teacher will help students build background


knowledge using A Field Full of Stones. Students will discuss the
essential question: Why is working together a good way to solve a
problem? The teacher will introduce the weekly vocabulary words,
words to know and read Anansi Learns a Lesson. Students will
practice making predictions. The teacher will introduce the weekly
language skill: Plural Nouns.
Tuesday: We will reread Anansi Learns a Lesson and identify
and discuss the theme. Students will practice making predictions
and ways to identify theme in a story. We will review the weekly
vocabulary words and words to know. The teacher will introduce
the vocabulary skill: antonyms. The students will work with the
teacher to use plural nouns correctly in a sentence.
Wednesday Students will read various texts and practice
stopping making predictions and finding the theme. The teacher
and students will identify antonyms in the text and discuss their
meaning. The students will work in their interactive notebooks.
Students will write sentences using plural nouns.
Thursday: Students will read various text and practice using the
skills making predictions and identifying the theme of a story.
Students will continue to work in their interactive notebooks.
Students will complete various activities with plural nouns.
Thursday - Students will complete the words to know
assessment

Math Standards ((CCR: 3.OA 1, 3, & 4)


I CAN relate multiplication equation as a picture.
I CAN find multiples to 2, 5 and 10 by skip counting.
I CAN relate repeated addition to multiplication.
I CAN define, discuss, collaborate, and plan with a
partner to gain evidence that animals live & survive
in communities.
COS# 5 Obtain and combine info to describe that
organisms are classified as living things, based on
their ability to obtain and use resources, grow ,
reproduce, and maintain stable conditions while
living in their environment.
COS#11 Construct an argument from evidence to
explain the likelihood of an organisms ability to
survive when compared to the resources in a
certain habitat.

Science this week


Students will be finishing up their
research on their chosen ecosystem and
completing their informational brochure.

Week at a Glance: Math


Monday: Students will begin brainstorming things
that come in groups. We will discuss how multiplication
is repeated addition. Students will understand that
multiplication is a way of combining equal groups.

Tuesday: Students will listen to the story Amandas


Beans Amazing Dream. Students will explore how
multiplication and equal groups are related. Students will
make combinations of equal groups.
(Session 5.1.1 and 5.1.2)

Wednesday: Students will count around the class in


multiples, and work on picture problems related to
multiplication equations.
(Session 5.1.3-5.1.4)
Thursday: Students will review and explore the
lessons from the week. Students will create a picture
problem related to multiplication equations. Students
will also review for their test on Friday.
Friday: Students will complete an assessment on the
skills taught this week and previously taught skills
(time, place value, addition/subtraction, rounding, and
multiplication).
