Head vs. Heart
How will you appeal to your audience logically? What statistics,
facts, graphs, charts, will you share to inform your followers. Provide
examples below.

How will you appeal to your audiences emotional side? What

images, photos, or stories will you share to pull on their heart-strings?
Provide examples.

Here is an example of what a student might submit (please do not

copy AND delete the examples before submitting yours):
TOPIC - Pet Adoption vs. Breeding - Adopt pets from shelters
HEAD - Logical Appeal
Approximately 7.6 million companion animals enter animal
shelters nationwide every year. Of those, approximately
3.9 million are dogs and 3.4 million are cats.
Each year, approximately 2.7 million animals are
euthanized (1.2 million dogs and 1.4 million cats).
Approximately 2.7 million shelter animals are adopted
each year (1.4 million dogs and 1.3 million cats).
About 649,000 animals who enter shelters as strays are
returned to their owners. Of those, 542,000 are dogs and
only 100,000 are cats.
Of the dogs entering shelters, approximately 35% are
adopted, 31% are euthanized and 26% of dogs who came
in as strays are returned to their owner.
Of the cats entering shelters, approximately 37% are
adopted, 41% are euthanized, and less than 5% of cats
who came in as strays are returned to their owners.

About twice as many animals enter shelters as strays

compared to the number that are relinquished by their
owners.

People can't argue with the facts - share the statistics regarding your
"cause" with them.
HEART - Emotional Appeal
For the emotional appeal, share images that will tug on their
heartstrings or testimonials that will hit home. Here's an example:
"GEORGIA
Georgia is my best friend! She is a miniature pincher, and she is an
absolute clown! She loves to burrow underneath the blankets, and run
around the house all crazy! But she also just loves to chill with me
while Im watching TV. She loves her family, but not so much other
people. My experience at this shelter was amazing! We were about to
adopt a different dog that they had at the shelter, but we couldnt
resist saying hi to Georgia, and she just stole my heart right away! The
people working at the shelter were so nice about letting us see any
dog that we were interested in, and they also allowed us to play with
the dogs until we decided which one would be out life long friend. Ive
had 3 dogs in my life, and Georgia is definitely a number one dog. She
is my daughter, my life long soul mate and we were meant for each
other. I owe it all to the amazing animal shelter! Now, even when she is
gone, she will have changed my life!
