AREQUIPA THE WHITE CITY

Arequipa es bien conocida por sus construcciones

hechas en sillar ,una roca volcnica de color blanco , que
da a la ciudad su apodo de " la ciudad blanca" , fue
fundada el 15 de agosto de 1540 ,tambin es conocida
como la ciudad del " eterno cielo azul " por su clima
extraordinario, seco y limpio.
Arequipa se sita en el corazn del sur del Per con una
poblacin aproximada que sobrepasa el milln
de
habitantes, se sita a unos 2325 metros sobre el nivel
del mar. Es considerada la segunda ciudad ms
importante del Per, es un lugar pintoresco que combina
la belleza de su verde campia con la imponente
presencia de volcanes y nevados. Los ms importantes
son: el Misti, el Chachani, el Pichu Pichu.

La plaza de armas es uno de los principales espacios

pblicos de Arequipa y el lugar de fundacin de la ciudad,
es considerada la ms hermosa del pas .Est ubicada
en el Centro Histrico de Arequipa, a su alrededor esta
La Catedral de Arequipa construida en sillar, con bvedas
de ladrillo; es la iglesia principal de la ciudad que ocupa
todo el lado norte de la Plaza de Armas. Exhibe un estilo
neo renacentista con cierta influencia gtica. Su fachada
est constituida por setenta columnas con capiteles
