Dear Parents/ Guardians,
Greetings from the English as a New Language (ENL) department, formerly termed the
English as a Second Language (ESL) department. I would like to extend my regards to both
new and returning students and their families. Our names are Mirsa Rudic, Rebecca
Sadrianna and Cynthia Cook and we are the NLA teachers at P 79 M/ The Dr. Horan School.
Please know that your student will be receiving New Language Arts (NLA) services this year.
One of the biggest goals for the New Language Arts program is to address IEP learning
expectations by promoting students academic English language proficiency through
linguistically supporting students in their New York State Alternate Assessment (NYSAA) and
NYS Career and Occupational Studies Standards (NYS CDOS) aligned work. Additionally,
NLA class will be a place to affirm cultural identities and build 21 st century skills through
information technology resources and teamwork. In compliance with the Commissioners
Regulations Part 154, your student will receive both, stand-alone NLA instruction (pull-out); as
well as, integrated NLA instruction (push-in) during this academic school year.
To support our learning, please send the following supplies to school with your student:
-2 marble notebooks
-2 pens
-2 pencils
-2 pocket folders
-2 packs of loose leaf
-1 box of tissues
-15 pampers per week
-1 box of wipes per month

Estimados Padres de Familias/Acudientes,

Saludos desde el Departamento de las Artes del Nuevo Lenguage (ENL), anteriormente conocido como
el Departamento de Ingls como Segundo Idioma ESL. Nos gustara extender un cordial saludo a los
estudiantes nuevos y antiguos, y a ustedes sus familiares. Nuestros nombres son Mirsa Rudic,
Rebecca Sadrianna, y Cynthia Cook, y somos las profesoras de las Artes del Nuevo Lenguage (NLA)
en la escuela P79M/Dr. Horan School.
Por favor sepa que su hijo(a) estara recibiendo los servicios de las Artes del Nuevo Lenguage (NLA) en

identidades culturales y se desarrollaran las destrezas del siglo 21 mediante el uso de recursos
tecnolgicos de la informacin y el trabajo en equipo. En cumplimiento con las Regulaciones de la
Parte 154 del Comisionado del Estado de Nueva York, su hijo(a) estara recibiendo instructin de las
Artes del Nuevo Lenguage de tipo independiente stand-alone (pull-out), asi como instruction
integrada de las Artes del Nuevo Lenguage de tipo empuje push-in durante este ao academico
escolar.
Para apoyar el aprendizaje de los estudiantes favor de enviar los siguientes suministros a la escuela
con su hijo(a):
2 cuadernos tipo marble
2 bolgrafos
2 lpices
2 carpetas de bolsillo
2 paquetes de hojas de papel sueltas
1 caja de pauelos de papel (tissue paper)
15 paales por semana
1 caja de toallitas humedas (wipes) por mes
