Solution 4. Restore Default Windows Update & BITS Services Values

in Windows Registry.
IMPORTANT: Before you continue, first take a backup of your registry. To do that:
1. Press Windows
+ R keys to load the Run dialog box.
2. Type regedit and press Enter to open Registry Editor.

3. From the main menu, go to File & select Export.

4. Specify a destination location (e.g. your Desktop), give a filename (e.g.

RegistryUntouched), select at Export range: All and press Save.

5. Close Registry Editor.

After you backed up your registry, it is time to restore Windows Update Service &
BITS Service's registry parameters to their default values. To do that:

1. Download according to your Windows version the two (2) text files
(WindowsXUpdateService.txt, WindowsXBitsService.txt) on your desktop.*
* Right-click on each filename and select Save As.

For Windows 7: Windows7UpdateService.txt & Windows7BitsService.txt

For Windows 8.1/8: Windows8UpdateService.txt & Windows8BitsService.txt

2. Then navigate to Control Panel, open Folder Options and at

the View tab, unselect theHide extensions for known file types option and
press OK.

3. Navigate to your desktop and change the extension of the files you downloaded
from .txt to.reg. (e.g from "Windows7UpdateService.txt" to
"Windows7UpdateService.reg" & from "Windows7BitsService.txt" to
"Windows7BitsService.reg")
4. Double-click on WindowsXUpdateService.reg file and merge its information to
the registry.

(Press Yes to the UAC warning message)

4. Perform the same operation and merge the WindowsXBitsService.reg file into
the registry.
5. Restart your computer and check for updates again.

For Windows Vista/7

1) Click on the Start Orb
2) Click on All Programs
3) Click on Accessories
4) Right click on the Command Prompt icon and choose Run As Administrator
5) Iin the command prompt window, type the following command and press Enter
REGSVR32 %SystemRoot%\System32\WUANUENG.dll

Creating the BITS Service

The first thing you can try to do is recreate the BITS service. You can do this by
opening an administrative command prompt and copying and pasting the
command below:
sc create BITS type= share start= delayed-auto binPath=
C:\Windows\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs tag= no DisplayName=
Background Intelligent Transfer Service
You can open an administrative command prompt by clicking on Start, typing in
CMD and then right-clicking on command prompt and choosing Run as
Administrator.

If, for some reason, you cant get the above command to work properly, you can
also try the command below, which is just a shortened version of it. If you can,
try to copy and paste because youll notice that after the = sign in several

locations, there is a space immediately after. Thats not by accident, you need
that space otherwise the command wont work.
sc create BITS binpath= c:\windows\system32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs start=
delayed-auto
Once the BITS service is installed, we need to make sure its registered properly.
If not, you can try to start it from the Services panel, but youll probably get an
error like:
Windows could not start the BITS service on the local computer. Error2: The
system cannot find the file specified

Register BITS Service

To register the BITS service, you have to create a batch file and then run it.
Sounds scary and technical, but its pretty easy. First, open Notepad and then
paste in the following depending on your operating system.

Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003

In notepad, click on File and then Save As. Name your file bits.bat and then
choose All Filesin the Save as Type box and save it to the desktop.

Now just right-click on the BAT file on your desktop and choose Run as
Administrator. At this point, you should then go ahead and restart your
computer and see if you can do what you were trying to do earlier, i.e install
updates, etc.
If BITS is still not showing up in the list of Windows Services or you cant start
the BITS service, then you can try and download this registry file and running it.
It basically tries to correct all the registry entries that are associated with the
BITS service. If the above commands did not work either, you can try running
this registry file and then try running the command again also. However, you
should first restart the PC after running the registry file.
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/win-services/7/BITS.reg
Note that this is a .REG file, which adds keys and values to your registry. You
might get a message while downloading it saying that this file could be
dangerous, however, its not so you dont have to worry. If you get any error
message when trying to run this REG file, you can also restart your PC in Safe
Mode and then try to run it. Sometimes a running process will prevent some of
the values from being added to the registry.

If youre still having issues with the BITS service not showing up properly, let us
know what you tried and what your specific situation is and well try to help.
Enjoy!

There's this virus that creates shortcuts of every folder on every drive. If its the one you're
facing, go about it this way.
You don't need an antivirus

I noticed on windows, it creates a process which you can find and stop from the
task manager. In my case, the process is called autoit3. Find it and stop it.

Next, on C, it created another folder called "Google". Please

find it and

delete it.

Now, on every partition of the hardisk, it created another folder called skypee
that contain its files. They may not be visible but they're there, so you type the
folder name in the address bar to access the folders and delete there contents.
Eg on local disk D, you would type "D\skypee\

To find all occurances of skypee program and make sure its removed absolutely,
you need to edit the registry. Caution here. Access the registry by running
regedit. exe in run. Once there click Ctrl + F to search. Now search for "autoit3"
and delete its every occurance.

You're done. To delete the harmless shortcuts, search for all .lnk files in the
explorer search bar and delete them. Your computer is now free of the virus.

You need to perform the steps to incorporate the Background Intelligence

Service into the registrya) Open Notepad and copy and paste the command highlighted in bold-
