AN EVALUATION OF THE SPEECH OF DANANJAYA HETTIARACHCHI
Everyone of us has its own uniqueness. We are special. In the speech of Dananjaya Hettiarachchi, he repatedly saying I see something, but I dont know what it is. This means that anyone has the potential to be great, to be special, and to be unique, even if were long abandoned our greatest aspirations. To avoid making that sound trite, he tells his own story. His story is the vehicle for the message, which the audience can personalize themselves and get to know about the speaker. The speaker is far from monotone, but he is also doesnt sound of the wall. He expertly alternates between lowing his voice to a solemn level and raising it for comedic effect. The phrasing of his words and his pausing directly emphasize to a certain point. He takes anywhere from one to a few seconds of silence to emphasize a point. The volume of his voice is applied very well. He has the proper pronunciation of the sounds on a word or the blending of sounds to produce a word. Staring into the eyes of audience members to hook even further. At the same time, his gestures are often but controlled, so he doesnt look like hes flopping his arms. He fluctuates his cadence and gestures without making them distractions. He has his formality when he speaks as well as his body movements were performed well to emphasize a certain point. He has also his formality in his clothing which is needed in his presentation or else he is presentable in his dress. Also, through his action and body movement, it helps for the audiences to understand more about his presentation. The presentation of Dananjaya Hettiarachchi is very inspiring because I was inspired in his presentation. I am inspired in his story. I think someone could relate in his story. I like the way on how he started his speech, the way he delivered his speech and the message of it. As he was telling his story his audience was entertained. But most of all, the message of his presentation is really inspiring.
