ChartCo:
The function of ChartCo is to supply all of our vessels with nautical corrections for any paper
publication (Paper charts, LOL, LORS, Sailing Directions and Pilot Guides etc.). It replaces
the former paper NTMs.
ChartCo is not to be used to update ADPs or AVCS (both is to be done with UKHO directly).
General:
ChartCo provides a so called select NTM service. This means that you receive the data for
these items only, which you have registered at ChartCo. This way we can reduce the size of
data transfers and use E-Mail instead of CDs. Therefore it is very important to set up the
outfit of nautical publications and to maintain it always up-to-date. That means as soon as
you receive new paper charts or books or if you remove same from your bridge, you need
to update your inventory at ChartCo.
From time to time (hope this will be monthly soon) you will receive a CD from ChartCo with
all NTMs collected. This CD you can use to update new publications to the last week you
have a CD for, before you request the update via E-Mail. This will reduce the size of the
required update.
The ChartCo service is divided into 2 parts: The digital NTMs and the Tracings. NTMs are
the basic requirements for all vessels. Tracings will be required for vessels with paper charts
only. ECDIS equipped vessels will not be provided with paper charts anymore. Any paper
charts or other nautical publications stored on the bridge need to be kept up to date. Expired
publications have to be removed.
The Soennecken TRANSPARENT PAPER belongs to this software and is needed for the
Tracing corrections.
Receiving weekly data: (1 - 6 only to be carried out if no weekly automatic mail received)
1. Open OceanMaster and ChartCo Email Client both programs need to be left open
for each step to be completed to collect all the NTMs & Corrections
2. Then in ChartCo Email Client click Ask for Data (This will create a data request XML
file in the C:\chartco\outbox folder
3. Open your GW E-Mail program and create a new email
a. to: oceandata2@chartco.com
b. Subject: Request - ChartCo Request For Data (Email Service)
4. Attach the XML file to the new email
5. Now send this data request E-Mail to ChartCo
6. Wait around 30 to 60 minutes and check for the reply from oceandata2@chartco.com
with the Update Files for that week. Note: The E-Mails are numbered in the subject
field like Email #1 etc. The last E-Mail will be numbered like Email #11=Last.
7. Wait till all emails are received before continuing (this will be mails with a single file in
each, named as 00000001.csz and so on)
10. When all mails are received save the attachments to the C:\chartco\inbox folder
11. Open the ChartCo Email Client and click Check Inbox and wait for all the files to be

Flag State requirement:

The valid relevant pages / parts for the departure and arrival port have to be printed and
added to the voyage planning as paper backup. Please check MN-7-041-6 (especially part 3
Nautical Publications). Even if your vessel operates in regular strings (liner service), all
pages have to be printed for every voyage planning. This is because all old voyage planning
have to be filed completely.
