Degrees of freedom:
It is the total number of rotational and deflectional unknown displacements @
structure nodes.

Structure nodes:
It is the total number of joints, supports and ends of members.

Q1: Draw the quantitative shear , and bending moment diagrams for the beam
shown. EI is constant.
Ans.: VA=5.23 kN, VC=12.2 kN, MB=-8.8kN.m

Q2: Draw the quantitative shear , and bending moment diagrams for the beam
shown. EI is constant.
Ans.: Vc=11.35, and MB=-12.2 kN.m

Q3: Determine the shaer force and momenet at fixed support of the beam shown.
EI= constant.
Ans.: Vc=13.64 kN, and Mc=-15.27 kN.m

Q4: Determine the location and value of maximum bending moment of the beam
shown . EI= constant.
Ans.: XMmax= 2.13m From right support "A", and Mmax=15.26 kN.m

Q5: Draw the quantitative shear, and bending moment diagrams, for the beam
shown. Support B settles 10 mm, and EI is constant. Take E = 200 GPa, I = 200x106
mm4.
Ans.: VA= 11.57kN , VB=30.78kN , and MA=146.7 kN.m
