Entry
WALT Today we are going to create a timeline of
20th century excavations/archaeologists. We will
achieve this by performing our own independent
inquiry/research, in order to do so we will be using
the laptops today, so head on inside and find a seat
in the horseshoe and I will show what we will be
doing.

Body (Exploration/Transformation/Presentation)
Once everyone can access the document on
their laptops, I will explicitly demonstrate (step
by step process) of how to begin and conduct
our research.
Search = identifying and searching key
information from the table that correlates with
and leads to locating the relevant information
to fill in the gaps.
Students will be encouraged to use credible
sources where possible.
Working independently or with a peer, research
will consist of exploring themes of continuity
and change related to excavation directors,
identifying significant dates, discoveries,
methods and contributions to the excavation
and conservation of Pompeii.

5 min

Throughout the lesson I will be accessible, working

and supporting students/small groups. Utilising the
smart board to assist students with their inquiry.
- To assist students research if necessary, they
will be provided a list of useful links.
- Prompting questions and discussion
throughout.
- A variety of short YouTube clips will be used
throughout to motivate and support student
inquiry.
Conclusion (Presentation/Reflection)
