1. Usage
YC315
YC315
traveling block is a travel part in rig hoisting system and a pulley set with up and down
reciprocating movements within a derrick.

It is connected through steel rope, which

performs the operations of tripping the drillpipes and lowering casings.

3. Structure
YC315 The structure of YC315 traveling block is shown in a figure.
An open-end hole at the traveling block top cap is used
in lifting the block.

There are 6 pulleys at a shaft within the space between left and right side plates,
which makes a pulley set. A tapered roller bearing with double row is installed between every
pulley and the shaft. A preventing plate is installed at each side of the bearings to prevent any
leaked grease and debris from getting into bearings. Every pulley has its own independent
lubrication channel grease injection through an oil gun into the oil rings at both pulley sides. The
traveling block shaft is fixed at the plate(s) to prevent it from rotating. One side of the shaft is
bolted to fasten the pulley set. The bolt is installed with a plate stopper in order to avoid any blot
loose.

In order to strengthen and tighten down the left

and right side plates, to prevent the rope from jumping out of pulley groves and to protect the
pulleys, the protection shields with grooves going through ropes, are mounted at both sides of the
traveling block. The lower part of the pulley is covered with protection plates.

Two bails hanging the hook are fastened through bail pins to the side of

the pin holes of side plates. While the hook is hung off, one of the pins can be removed.

4. Use and Maintenance

In order for the traveling
block to operate for a long time with trouble free, timely and correct maintenance should be
performed.
4.1 Maintenance and Inspection before Operations
1The rotation of the pulleys should be flexible
without any detention.
2The rotation of a pulley should not
cause the rotation of its adjacent pulleys.

The shaft of the traveling block and side plates must be securely fastened, all bolts
must be tightened without any loose, and locking device must be complete and firm.

The gap between the protection shield and the wheel rim of the pulley, should be
5~10mm rim to prevent the rope from jumping out of the pulley grooves or to avoid frictions to
the pulleys, which influences pulley rotations.
5Every bearing of the pulley should be filled with enough
lubrication oil.
4.2 Maintenance and Inspection during Operations

To ensure safe and reliable operation of the traveling block and to avoid
accidents, operators should regularly inspect the wearing and crack of the lifting holes at top cap,
pulley rope groove, pulley shaft end, steel seat, pin hole, bail, bail pin. The use of these parts
should be stopped and repair or replacement should be taken if any crack and excessive wearing is
identified.
2Lubrication grease is regularly added based
on the requirement of lubrication and maintenance.
3The pulley
if cracks or serious defects at wheel rims is identified, should be forbidden with any further use
and any welding at the rims.
4The periodical
inspection at the fastenings at every part of the traveling block should be performed and all the
retaining nut and tightening clamps should be fastened in a timely manners.

When the collision to crownblock, cable drilling or broken

drilltool occurs, or when the sticking drilling requires to be resolved, a careful examination should
be taken to inspect the steel rope within the groove (not out of groove), the condition of the
protection shield, and the flexibility of the pulley.
4.3 The lubrication of the Traveling Block
All pulley bearings should
be kept with a good lubrication in order to ensure a smooth rotation.
6 Lubrication location: 6 lubrication oil rings at the pulley
shaft ends.
1 2 Lubricants: No. 1 extreme
pressure lithium grease in winter, the No. 2 extreme pressure lithium grease in summer.
Lubricating once a week.

5. Packaging and Transportation

For bare transportation, grease should be placed at machining locations. transport and
use of lifting equipment should not allow drag on the ground. During the transportation,
lifting tools and equipment should be used and no dragging at ground is allowed.
