YOUR VOTING RIGHTS IN TEXAS

Election Day: Tuesday, November 8, 2016

Who Can Vote?
In order to vote, you must register first.
The deadline to register is October 11, 2016 for the election on November 8.
To register to vote:
o You must live in Texas, be a U.S. citizen, and be age 18 or older on Election Day;
o You must also not be serving a sentence (including probation or parole) for a felony conviction;
and not have been declared mentally incompetent by a court.
o Print a voter registration form at https://webservices.sos.state.tx.us/vrapp/index.asp.
When do I vote?
Early voting begins on October 24, 2016 and ends on November 4, 2016.
On Election Day, Tuesday November 8, the polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Where do I vote?
During early voting, you may vote at any early voting location in your county. Check with your county.
On Election Day, you must vote at your local polling place. Find your polling place at: https://teamrvmvp.sos.texas.gov/MVP/mvp.do
How do I vote?
You must show identification (ID) to vote at the polling place. If you dont have a photo ID, you can
still vote. Please look at the MALDEF Voter ID flyer to understand what documents you can use for
voting.
Can I bring someone to help me vote?
Yes. If you need help reading in English, you can bring a person into the voting booth to help you vote.
You can bring any person that you want except your employer or your union representative. The person
you bring does not need to be a registered voter.
Can I receive assistance in Spanish?
Yes. In Texas, you are entitled to a Spanish language ballot and assistance in Spanish.
Can I vote by mail?
You can vote by mail if you are 65 years or older OR disabled OR out of the county on Election Day
and during the period for early voting OR in jail but otherwise eligible to vote.
What if my name is not on the list of voters?
If your name is not on the list, or there is a problem with your ID, you have the right to vote on a
provisional ballot. Be sure to ask for a provisional ballot if there is a problem at the polling place.

o No est cumpliendo una sentencia (incluyendo libertad a prueba o libertad condicional) por una
condena por delito grave; no ser designado mentalmente incompetente por una corte
o Imprimir un formulario para votar en https://webservices.sos.state.tx.us/vrapp/index-sp.asp
Cundo voto?
El perodo de Votar por adelantado comienza el 24 de octubre 2016 y cierra el 4 de noviembre 2016.
El da de las Elecciones, martes 8 de noviembre, las casillas electoral estn abiertas de 7 a.m. a 7 p.m.
Dnde puedo votar?
Durante el perodo de votar por adelantado, Usted puede votar en cualquier casilla electoral en su
condado. Consulte con su condado.

Cmo voto?
Usted debe presentar su identificacin/credencial para votar (ID) en la casilla electoral. Si Usted no tiene
una credencial (ID) con foto, an puede votar. Por favor consulte el volante informativo de ID de votar
de MALDEF para comprender que documentos puede usar para votar.
Puedo traer alguien conmigo para que me ayuden a votar?
S. Si Usted necesita ayuda para leer o comprender el ingls, Usted puede traer una persona que le ayude
a votar. Usted puede traer cualquier persona salvo su empleador o representante de sindicado. No es
necesario que la persona que le acompae est registrada para votar.
Puedo recibir ayuda en espaol?
S. En Texas Usted tiene el derecho a una boleta de votar en espaol o ayuda en espaol.
Puedo votar por correo?
Usted puede votar por correo si tiene 65 aos de edad o ms O estar discapacitado O estar fuera del pas
el da de las Elecciones y durante el perodo de votar por adelantado O estar en la crcel, pero an
elegible para votar.
Y si mi nombre no est en la lista de votantes?
Si su nombre no est en la lista, o si hay algn problema con su ID, Usted tiene el derecho de votar en
una boleta provisional. Por favor pida una boleta provisional si hay algn problema en el lugar de votar.
