Statement of Purpose

As long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by the way different objects in our daily life
functions and works; from disassembling and assembling my own bike for maintenance during
my primary school time to designing Hydraulic Ram as a part of final year project during my
undergraduate course; my curiosity was directed at unraveling the inner working and functioning
of devices. I found, Industrial engineering degree was the logical career choice in match with my
interest and career goals. My diligence, combined with my passion for engineering, helped me
secure admission to Industrial Engineering Department at Institute Of Engineering, Thapathali
Campus.
Bachelor in Industrial Engineering being miscellany of theory and practice, which balanced
technology, management and optimization, making me insightful and compelling to explore
beyond the syllabus. With the help of this course, I not only understood the complexity and
gravity of fundamental mechanical theories but also perceive the joy of the pragmatic knowledge
by designing simple systems or simulating the complex machines. During those four years, I
gained in-depth knowledge about manufacturing technology and industrial management, and this
understanding helped me to answer most of those queries that recurred on my mind in the past
but incite as well for further research. During this academic period, I was exposed to different
top multinational industries in my country and participated in several relevant trainings, which
made me familiar with existing scenario of industrial sector motivated me to pay strong attention
in improving my comprehensive qualities and my horizon knowledge to make some positive
changes there. Further, I did a seminar paper on Boiler Efficiency Techniques and
Management and my final year project was on Design and installation of Hydraulic Ram
prototype as well as case study on maintenance of hydraulic ram pump currently located at
Dhading, a remote village near the capital of Nepal.
It is well known that the true value of industrial engineering lies in the optimization of complex
systems and processes. Use of advanced manufacturing methods to improve quality and
productivity and reducing wastage of time, money, and resources is the key aspect of Industrial
engineering. That is what I want to focus on my graduation program: Operation research, Design,
and operation of the advanced manufacturing system, continuous quality and improvements.
In this regard, I want to pursue MS degree at your university and work under relevant research
field. My first priority will be to pursue MS and involve in research from which I can learn and
develop computational and technological tools for practical applications. I want to become an
academia where I can disseminate my knowledge to future potentials and also professional who
implements the knowledge in the real world. I shall use the acquired knowledge gained at your
prestigious institution to develop the technology that must bring positive changes in the life of
people around the globe. It is very difficult to translate the importance of strong and contributing
manufacturing industry in the economic development of least developed countries like mine. To

realize the dream of economic prosperity through rapid industrialization competent human
resource is must. And I really want to be a part of such competent resources to maintain a
sustainable system.
Hence, to propel myself to my ultimate destination, certainly, some sophisticated academic and
research setting: research center, laboratory, researchers, scientists, and excellent faculty at your
University, is imperative, for me. These salient amenities of your institution will leverage me
with international exposure and global understanding of different aspects of industrial
development. And strive for improving some Nepalese indigenous technology to next level.
My area of interest, academic knowledge, mixed with acquired capabilities from work
experience and project management skills makes me a suitable candidate to be a part of your
esteemed institution. This can be realized only if I get admission at your esteemed institution.
Also, being a citizen of one of the poorest nations, I would like to seek for financial assistance to
pursue the course at your university, which I believe shall deserve with my academic excellence
along with good scores in standardized tests and experiences. I strongly believe, I can prove my

I have great ability to work independently and can take initiative or work in a team. I have
concentrated myself on developing high quality but cost effective methods and products which
can be eco friendly, one example would be my final year project related to renewable energy.
During internship at Chaudari Group, I made sure equipments work smoothly and production
had no bottle necks. I also worked as strategist and production planner to reducing down time
which even proved efficient and profitable; optimizing available resource. I used my knowledge
of quality control and energy optimization in the production plant. I administered current
production level and recommended activities for improvement of process and introduced best
practice available in the field.
