Lesson Plan: Month of September from the 19th-30th

Topic: Colors
Objective: SWBAT identify the colors in Spanish.
ACTFL Standards:
Standard 1.1: Students engage in conversations, provide and obtain information, express feelings and emotions, and
exchange opinions.
Standard 1.2: Students understand and interpret written and spoken language on a variety of topics.
Standard 1.3: Students present information, concepts, and ideas to an audience of listeners or readers on a
variety of topics.
Standard 4.1: Students demonstrate understanding of the nature of language through comparisons of the
language studied and their own.

Colors- Writing activity

Description
Students will complete a Do Now in
which they will answer getting to know
you questions. For example: What is your
favorite color and why?
Students already learned the names of
colors in Spanish. After quickly reviewing
it as a class, students will have a quick
turn and talk with their partner practicing
the names of each color in Spanish. Once
that is finished, students will be divided
into two groups and will pass around a
ball to their group members asking for
their favorite color in Spanish using the
question: Cul es tu color favorito?
students must answer the question before
passing the ball.
Students are in a circle. Each student is
given a magic marker of a different color.
Students say in the target language what
color they have. The student in the center
of the circle names two colors. Students
having these two colors must exchange
places as the student in the center tries to
take the place of one of the students in the
outer circle.
Students will receive a worksheet that
allows them to practice what they learned
in Spanish class.

Description
Students will review the Colores,
Colores song.
Students will have a piece of paper in
which they will write and draw objects
that they find inside of the classroom.
Students will look all around the
classroom for 10 things in the color that
the teacher says. Each time they see an
objects in the targeted color they will
draw it. Once students have 10 things on
their paper, they will get another color
and they will start all over again on a new
sheet of paper. Students will keep on
playing until theyve gone through the
entire list of colors. At the end, students
will have a rainbow of papers and colors.
Students are in a circle. Each student is

Counting Catch Activity

Numeros- Writing activity

Description
Students will review the Colores,
Colores song.
Students already learned the names of
numbers in Spanish. After quickly
reviewing it as a class, students will have
a quick turn and talk with their partner
practicing the names of each number in
Spanish. Once that is finished, students
will play Spanish Bingo. Each student
will have a Bingo card and they will
follow along what the teacher says in
Spanish.
Students will stand in a circle. One
student will have a ball; they will each
have a specific number that they must say
out loud. That student then tosses the ball
to another student who must say the next
number. Students will do this activity
counting up to the number of students in
the circle and then go backwards.
Students will receive a worksheet that
allows them to practice what they learned
in Spanish class.

Additional numbers Activities:


Body Numerals:
The teacher calls up a pair of students and whispers to them a numeral between 11 and 20. The
team has to use their bodies to form that numeral. Once they have done so, the teacher asks the
class Qu nmero es ste? The class looks at the teams body numeral and makes a guess
until the correct number is said. The person who guesses correctly comes up with a partner
chosen by the teacher to be the next body numerals.

Numbers Count:
All students stand up next to their desks. Starting with the first student of the first row, have them
count off starting with the number i. Each student has the choice of saying 1 or 2 numbers at a
time. Any student who must say a multiple of 10 must sit down. The last student standing, wins
the game.
Number Macarena:
The teacher will demonstrate the motions of the dance then students will practice the moves.
They will first do this without the music several times. Once students are comfortable with the
moves, they will add the numbers starting with 10 and continue to count by 10s with each hand
movement. Then the music will be added.
