TheologicalIssuesoftheReformation
ThetheologyoftheReformersdepartedfromtheRomanCatholicChurchprimarilyonthe
basisofthreegreatprinciples:^[2]^
SoleauthorityofScripture,
Justificationbyfaithalone,and
Priesthoodofthebeliever.

SolaScriptura
SolaScriptura(byScripturealone)wasoneofthewatchwordsoftheReformation.This
doctrinemaintainsthatScripture,ascontainedintheBible(Bible),istheonlyauthorityfor
theChristianinmattersoffaith,lifeandconduct.Theteachingsandtraditionsofthechurch
aretobecompletelysubordinatetotheScriptures.RomanCatholicism,ontheotherhand,
holdsScriptureandTraditiontobeofthesameinspiredDepositofFaith.

SolaFide
SolaFide(byfaithalone)wastheotherwatchwordoftheReformation.Thisdoctrine
maintainsthatwearejustifiedbeforeGod(andthussaved)byfaithalone,notbyanything

Priesthoodofallbelievers
