PART-B
(a) (i) Explain the concept of OPTIZ coding system with example
(ii) Explain production flow analysis
(a) (i) Explain the component of FMS and various FMS layout configurations.
(ii) Discuss the applications, advantages and disadvantages of FMS.
(b) (i) Explain in about Vehicle Guidance technology. State the few AGVs Application.
(ii) Discuss in detail about Vehicle Management and Safety.
(a) (i) Briefly explain the objectives, principles and various concepts of lean production.
(ii) Discuss the various computerized elements of a CIM system.
(b) (i) What are all the basic elements of an automated system?. Discuss in details of control systems.
(ii) Explain Just in-time production systems with suitable examples.
(a)(i) Explain various level of automation.

(ii)Analyze various implementation issues on KANBANS and JIT systems.

(i)Demonstrate the significance of concurrent engineering approach in limiting design changes.
(ii) A certain part is produced in a batch size of 100 units. The batch must be routed through five operations to complete
the processing of the parts. Average setup time is 3 hr/operations, and average operation time is 6 min (0.1 hr). Average
non-operation time due to handling, delays, inspections, ect., is 7 hours for each operation. Determine how many days it
will take to complete the batch, assuming the plant runs one 8-hr shift/day
b) (i)Define rank order clustering (roc) algorithm.
(ii)what are the limitations for implementation cellular manufacturing.
(iii) Explain that four machines 1, 2, 3, and 4 have been identified as belonging in a GT machine cell. An analysis
of 50 parts processed on these machine has been summarized in the From-To chart of table below. Additional
information is that 50 parts enter the machine grouping at machine 3, 20 parts leaved after processing at machine1,
and 30 parts leave after machine 4. Determine the logical machine arrangement using Hollier method-1.
