towards getting the driving license

Step 1: Registration & file Opening

EDI branches or website www.edi.ae with all required documents & course payment.

Step 2: Lectures
Attend 8 prescribed lectures on different topics (appx.1 hour duration each) at any of
the 3 main EDI training and testing centers- Al Qusais, Al Quoz and Port Rashid before
starting your practical training. Lectures are available in 3 different languages (English,
Arabic, Hindi/ Urdu) & lecture schedule for each location is available in your EDI folder
& on the website (www.edi.ae) Before attending the lectures, please ensure you have
collected your MDT card, RTA learners permit and RTA book from the registration staff
and kindly carry them for all lectures, classes and tests.
Step 3: Simulator Class Available at 3 main EDI centers only
After completing all lectures, book simulator training by calling EDI Call center
(04-2631100) or by visiting the 3 main EDI testing centers. Attend your simulator class
as scheduled.
Next, you can choose to either start your practical training first and simultaneously go
for theory test OR you can first pass your theory test & then start your practical training.
Step 4: Practical Training
Book your training classes through call centre / EDI Branches / 3 main centers & start
your training. On your first day of training please meet the scheduling staff to collect
your training sheet and then go to the training vehicle. Kindly ensure you carry your
learning permit, RTA book, MDT card for each training class and test. Kindly login and
logout before and after each training session using the given MDT card.
Parallely you can book your RTA Theory Test.
Step 5: RTA Theory Test Can be taken at 3 main EDI testing centers only
Note: While booking your theory test, please ensure that the theory test date and time
does not clash with your training class day and time.

EDI testing centers.

Practice
Mock Test

Practice for RTA Theory test via EDI website (www.edi.ae) or by

attending theory mock test sessions available at 3 test centers
(Al Qusais, Al Quoz and Port Rashid) or through RTA mobile app.
Before attending your theory test please ensure you have read
the RTA manual / book well.

Attend
Theory test

Attend your theory test as scheduled. If you pass, move to next

step, if failed book again for RTA theory test and attend the same.

Garage, Parallel, 60 degree, Hill & Emergency

stop. Can be taken at 3 main EDI centers only
Book Parking Test -As soon as your training starts & you know your training schedule,
plan for your parking test. The test date usually comes around 1 week from the booking
date, book the test based on your training schedule so that parking test is scheduled
around your 20th class. Parking test can be booked through EDI call center / 3 main
EDI centers.
Attend the test - Attend all 5 parking tests as scheduled. You need to pass in all 5
parking tests the same day to move to the next step. If you fail in any one of the 5 tests,
book for the failed test again & reappear for the failed test only. (You may need to take
4 extra training classes to practice for the parking test. If you fail again, you only need
to book for the test (no extra classes to be taken) and appear for the same.)
Step 6: RTA Parking Test

Step 7: Book RTA Road Test

As soon as you have passed your parking test, you can book your RTA road test, the
date for which usually comes around 2 weeks from the date of booking. The booking
for the RTA Road test can be done through RTA call center 8009090 or the RTA smart
self-screens at the 3 main EDI centers or via the EDI test staff at the 3 EDI centers.
Please use the days before your test date to complete all your classes and pass the
assessment test. 48 hours before your road test date, the system checks if you have
passed the assessment test, completed your prescribed classes & cleared all pending
payments; if any of the above is not met the test date gets postponed / cancelled
automatically. In case of postponement to another date, you will not pay the test fees
again; however, in case of cancellation, test fees will have to be paid again.
Step 8: Assessment Test At 3 main EDI Testing centers
For Males : After completing around 32 classes, clearing all payments, passing theory
and all parking tests, book the assessment test through EDI call center / 3
main centers and attend the same.
For Females : After completing around 36 classes, clearing all payments, passing
theory and all parking tests , book the assessment test through EDI call
center / 3 main centers and attend the same.
Note: If you get excellent, very good & good result in your assessment test; you have
passed the test & can attend the booked RTA Road test. If you get moderate or weak
result in your assessment test; you will need to take extra prescribed 8/12 classes and
appear for a re-assessment test.
Step 9: Solo Training Available at Al Qusais HO only
After passing assessment test, you may book your solo training class through EDI call
center / staff at Al Qusais center & attend the same to gain confidence by driving alone.
Step 10: Book Highway training
For Males: After completing around 32 classes, book your 4 mandatory Highway
classes through EDI call center / EDI staff at training location & attend the same.
For Females: After completing around 36 classes, book your 4 mandatory Highway
classes through EDI call center / EDI staff at training location and attend
the same before the road test date.
Step 11: Book Night Classes For Males only
Book your 4 mandatory night classes through EDI call center / EDI staff at training
location and attend the same atleast 48 hours before the Road test date.
Step 12: Attend the RTA Road Test At 3 main EDI centers
Attend your booked RTA road test as scheduled. Please arrive 30 minutes before your
scheduled test time at the assigned test center. After passing the Road test, at the same
test center, visit the EDI cashier to complete the clearance process and then go to test
dept. to collect your license.If you fail, you will have to book for a re-test, pay & attend
the 8 mandatory training classes.
Step 13: Collect your Driving License
Please bring your original Emirates ID and passport copy with visa page to collect your
Drivers License.
DRIVE SAFELY!
You can get your international driving license in 15 minutes at EDI for only AED200
with your UAE driving license copy, passport copy and 2 passport size photographs.

Please bring your RTA learners permit, EDI student card and RTA driving manual for every training class, lecture and driving test.
In case you need to change any test date, please provide 72 hours prior notice through call center or by mailing us at info@edi.ae
In case you wish to stop training at any point, you can do so through EDI call center / EDI staff at training locations (24 hours prior notice is required).To start your training
again, inform the call center / EDI scheduling staff.
