ISO 14001 Awareness Course

What is the purpose of this course?

ISO 14001:2004 is an internationally accepted standard that sets out a framework of essential elements for
putting an effective Environmental Management System (EMS) in place. The standard is designed to address
the delicate balance between maintaining a sustainable business and minimising any environmental impacts.
The course provides a broad picture in terms of the ISO 14001 Environmental Managements System (EMS)
Standard with regard to responsibilities and liabilities of all parties involved and how the ISO 14001 EMS has to
be approached and managed in practice.
Course Outcomes
Individuals will:

Become familiar with the Environmental Management System (EMS) standards and their application;
Learn how these systems and standards can further achievement of company goals and objectives;
Be able to examine the broad trends in EMS standardisation;
Be able to assess how the company compares to leading edge companies in the field;
Be able to benchmark themselves against good practice in environmental management;

Introduction to ISO 14001 Environmental Managements System (EMS);

What the Standard consists of:
o General requirements;
o Environmental policy;
o Planning implementation and operation;
o Checking and corrective action;
o Management review.
Principles of the Standard;
How to interpret a Standard.

Duration
1 Day.
Environment
Classroom training conducted at the clients venue (In-house) or as a public course.
Please note that a minimum of 10 delegates is required to run an in-house course.

Student manual;
All course material is provided in English. Training can be presented in other languages based on request.
Assessments
An evaluation will be included at the end of the course. A pass mark of 75% is required.
