Instructional Strategies
Teacher approach to helping students achieve the learning objectives and meet their
needs.
Modeling: As a class, we will edit one introduction and one body paragraph.
Independent practice: Students will edit their Of Mice and Men theme essays
(introduction and body paragraphs). I will emphasize the importance of a logical
sequence, descriptive writing, attention to detail, and inclusion of key elements.
Monitor Progress: I will walk around the classroom monitoring the progress of
editing and assisting whenever necessary.
Learning Activities
Opportunities provided for students to develop knowledge and skills of the learning
objectives.
Differentiation/Accommodations/Modifications/Increases in Rigor
To help meet the needs of all learners, learning differences, cultural and language
differences, etc.
Throughout the lesson, I will walk around the classroom to assist students, as necessary.
My cooperating teacher will be sitting near the back of the classroom also assisting
student who may need additional assistance. The heterogeneous grouping will benefit
students who require activities where they are able to interact with their peers.
Classroom Management
Strategies consistent with the learning needs of
the lesson that also meet student behavior
needs to help keep the students on task and actively engaged.
Students will be monitored
throughout the lesson. If behavior issues arise, I will place students into groups where
they may be more productive. If accommodations cannot be made to redirect the student
behavior, I will send the student to a buddy classroom and document the behavior in Tyler
SIS. Students will not be able to use their cell phones Or Chromebooks today because all
assignments will be printed and given to each student.
Extensions
Activities for early finishers that extend the students understanding of and thinking about
the learning objectives by applying their new knowledge in a different way.
Students who complete the assignment early will be asked to begin editing the conclusion
paragraph for Of Mice and Men theme essay.
