Read the story and answer the following:
Today, the students of class 4 are very happy. They are going for a nature
walk to a forest. The children are going to collect fallen leaves and flowers for
their science album. They were told not to touch or pluck anything. Miss Anita,
their Science teacher was guiding them about the forest. She told them, “Children,
Tam making groups of five students each, Don’t leave your group. Stay with other
students, Don’t walk too fast or run here and there. You might get lost.”
aN
Anjali was a student of the first group. She was a good sportsman and could
walk very fast. She was taller than the other student in her group. After the students
started exploring, she realized that the others were walking too slowly. She started
walking a little faster hoping that the other students would also catch up with her.
On her way, she saw many amazing flowers and leaves. She even spotted
many birds she had not seen before. She got so excited that she started moving,
faster. Soon, she got separated from other students of the group. She reached a dark
spot. She looked around but found none of her classmates near her. She called
out the names of other students but no answer came. There was silence
everywhere. The only sound she could hear was the rustle of leaves or chirping of
birds. Now, she realized that she had got separated from her group and was all
alone. She once again called out loudly, “Help! Help! I am lost!” There was dead
silence again. She got very scared and started crying loudly.
‘After ten minutes, she heard someone calling out her name. It was her class
teacher! Anjali heaved a big sigh of relief. She said, “Thank you Ma’am for
finding me. I was so scared.” I shall always obey elders and remain in the grouppromise.” Her teacher smiled at her and said, “Dear, we make rules for you as we
know what can go wrong in their absence. Now come and join the others. They are
waiting for you.” Anjali had now leat a lesson.
It is much safer to obey, than to regret.
Obedience to elders helps us in many ways. They guide us and tell us before
hand what is tight o wrong for us. They also warn us about any dangers. They
help us and prepare us to face any problem. Obeying elders is for our own good. It
helps us stay safe and sound, Disobedience or not following the advice elders give
us may prove costly.
