Shot two:
The close up of the snow globe emphasises the
importance of it, maybe a symbol? The snow globe
containing an innocent penguin connotes a happy
film, a family film. The close up intensions is to
make the audience feel quite happy through the
innocent looking penguin; this portrays the genre of
the film, or does it? The fact that there is snow in
the globe portrays happiness, as children love snow.
However, white connotes quite a blank feeling quite
a mysterious unknown feeling, left empty? The title
which is appears across the snow globe emphasises
the importants of the title; lovely portrays a
harmless thing which makes someone happy. The
word bones conveys a harsh meaning.

Shot three:
Shot four:
This shot is a close up. In this shot we see the
introduction of the characters. In this close up
we see a father and daughter, the close up was
used to emphasise the snow globe, to show the
significance of the snow globe the close up
pictures a little girl crying facing the direction of
the snow globe. This shot also shows the bond
between a father and a daughter as the father
comforts his daughter whilst she is upset about
her penguin locked away.
Shot five:
In shot five we see yet another close up, the
close up emphasises her facial expressions and
how shes developed from seconds before, and
now acknowledging that the penguin is in no
harm. At this point the camera is fading slightly;
this is at the two minute point. The reason the
camera is fading could mean this scene might
have been a flash back, or story of her growing
up. The fading connotes maybe this could be a
memory or a flash back, whilst something bad is
happening? Maybe there is a twist and this isnt
all good.

The penguin
appears on
screen 12
seconds into
the film
opening, the
transition is a
fading affect
which slowly
brought the
audiences
attention to
the penguin.
The sound
made when
entering is a
light sound
almost like a
fairy tale
sound.
In the fourth
screenshot
the transition
between the
before shot
and after
shot jumps
straight in to
the next, this
gives of an
real life
effect that
its a current
feeling.
At this point
in time there
was no music
there was
the sound of
flicking the
pages of a
newspaper
and the
playing of
toys. This is
1 minute in
and the
scene lasted
30 seconds.
In this scene of
the little girl
crying this lasted
for a good 30/40
seconds which
showed the
audience the
father and
daughter bond,
which made the
audience
connect with the
characters.
The transition
between the
before and after
shot was a jump,
this was to make
the film look
more consistent.
