*This evening show will be followed with "Night Sky
Live, a guided orientation of the celestial objects
visible that evening. Weather permitting.

Students will be able to experience how to use the MIG wire

welder. Learn about Plasma and Arc Welding processes as well as
receive hands-on experience with the Lincoln Electric Demo
Truck. Participants should wear long pants and close-toed shoes.
Students will tour the Engineering Departments new FAB
(fabrication) lab along with a Robotics Demonstration. Limited to
first 10 students.
Patricia Sullivan is an Astronomer and Science Communicator for
NASAs Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, performing
Education and Public Outreach throughout Orange County.
Additionally, she is an Astronomy Educator for the Tessmann
Planetarium at Santa Ana College. She is a proud Phi Theta Kappa
SAC graduate and transfer student.
Hands-on construction of aircraft models (kites, helicopters, and
gliders). This fun workshop is designed to inspire questioning
strategies and engineering redesigns to make these activities
educationally challenging. Flight test competitions with awards!
Enjoy a stunning visual and musical Tour of Our Solar System
from the International Space Station, to our Moon, out to the
planets, beyond the boundary of our Galaxy, and out into the
unknown edges of our Universe.

Build, Play and Share Games

Using the KODU Visual Programming Tool, learn how to build,

play and share your own virtual games.

Drop by & Check Out some Parasites of OC

Presenter: Patty Oertel

Stop by and look through microscopes at vectors (mosquitos, ticks,

kissing bugs) in the OC that are responsible for transmitting various
parasites with current SAC Bio students. Discover how these actual
parasites are responsible for diseases such as Lyme and Chagas
Disease.
Come learn how to make a body volt meter. This workshop is
perfect for students interested in Civil, Environmental, Energy,
Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, and related Technologies.

Brains, brains, oh my!

Students will experience working with a mouse model to learn how

respiration is measured. Students will also have opportunity to view
the brains of a mouse and a chicken. Limited to first 10 students.

Students will use some of the latest technology for surveyors! They
will collect digital measurements with Leica equipment which can
be used to create maps.

Titan Racing Baja and Titan Rover

display their Racing Baja, which participates in a yearly
competition held by the Society of Automotive Engineers and their
Rover, which competes in the University Rover Challenge held at
the Mars Desert Research Station in Utah.

Come and join this BIOL 211 lab as we brew alcohol using yeast
and sugars! Students will also have opportunity to view the brains of
a mouse and a chicken. Limited to first 10 students.

Sustainable is Attainable

Bernie Karl is an innovative and dynamic entrepreneur from

Fairbanks, Alaska. He imagineered the Aurora Ice Hotel seen on
T.V., and welcomed a group of 24 SAC students to his Chena Hot
Springs Resort this past summer. They toured the geothermal energy
plant that efficiently powers the entire resort and greenhouses. He
owns the largest recycling business in Alaska and has much to share
with us about all we can do to be part of the solution, not the
problem!
