How to Create Storage Location in SAP

Storage Location in SAP

Storage location is an organization unit where stocks are
managed (inventory management). Inventory management is
managed on a quantity basis at storage location level in the plant
and not on a value basis at the storage location level.
The Plant may contain one or more storage location, at least one
storage location is to be assigned to a plant.
You can maintain storage location in SAP MM by using one
of the following navigation methods. You can a create
storage location by copying from existing storage location or
creating new location by selecting new entries.
IMG Path: - SPRO => IMG => Enterprise Structure => Definition
=> Materials management => Maintain storage location.
Transaction code: - OX09.
Step 1:- Enter transaction code SPRO in the SAP command
field and enter.

Step 2:- Select SAP Reference IMG or press function key F5.

Step 3:- On the next screen, follow the IMG path and double click
on maintain storage location

Step 5: On determine work entry screen, enter the plant code

as a work area for which storage locations are defined.

Step 6: On the screen, change view storage locations:

overview, select new entries to create a new storage location.

Step 7: In new entry screen, update the following fields.

1. Enter four digit alphanumeric keys in Sloc field that identifies
the storage location.
2. Enter the descriptive name of the company in description
field.

Step 8: Update address for storage location, Select storage

location and then click on address of the storage location.

Step 9: On the next screen, click on new entries and enter 1

in No field, then click on address icon.

Step 10: Update the all the required fields such as name, street
address, PO box# and communication details.

Step 11: After maintaining all the required fields, click on save
button to save your configured data.

Step 12: Then you prompt for customizing request number,

select your request number and save the data.

Successfully storage location in SAP is maintained.

Companies may need to define a different

address for each storage location because of
the following reasons:
A subcontractor location where inventory is held.
A company facility with a different shipping address.
You can store a material at several storage locations. To store data
specific to each storage location you must create the relevant
material master record or extend and existing material master
record.
If the material master record already exists you can extend it to
include data specific to a storage location either manually or
automatically.

The material master record is automatically extended the first

time a good receipt is posted for material. Data specific to the
storage location is updated in the material master record.
Therefore you can configure the system in customizing.
IMG Path: - SPRO => IMG => Materials management =>
Inventory management and physical inventory => Good receipt
=> Create storage location automatically.

To create storage locations manually:

SAP Easy Access Screen path:Logistics => Production => Master data => Material master =>
Other => Enter storage locations
