1. Find the minimum sampling rate to avoid spectrum overlap for the following signals.
(a) x(t) = 2cos(2100t) + 3cos(2200t) + 5cos(2500t).
(b) Speech signal with spectrum from 300 Hz to 3400 Hz.
(c) Audio signal with spectrum from 20Hz to 20kHz.
2. Consider a 4-bit (n = 4) ADC. The input voltage range is 10V m(nT) 10V. Find
the binary code for the following samples when offset binary code is used.
(a) m(kT) = 7.85V.
(b) m(kT) = 6.23V.
(c) m(kT) = 1.37V.
(d) m(kT) = +4.72V.
(e) m(kT) = +8.19V.
3. Consider a 4-bit (n = 4) ADC. The input voltage range is 10V m(nT) 10V. Find
the sign and magnitude, 1s complement, and 2s complement code for the following
samples
(a) m(kT) = 5.85V.
(b) m(kT) = 8.23V.
(c) m(kT) = 2.37V.
(d) m(kT) = +1.72V.
(e) m(kT) = +6.19V.
4. A message x(t) = 2 cos(210t) is uniformly sampled by an impulse train of period Ts
= 0.02 sec. Sketch
(a) x(t).
(b) the Fourier transform of x(t), X().
(c) the sampled waveform.
(d) the spectrum of the sampled waveform.

(d) Is it possible to recover x(t) by passing the sampled waveform through an ideal
