ACTIVITY -1
TO ASSEMBLE A HOUSEHOLD
CIRCUIT COMPRISING THREE BULBS,
THREE SWITCHES, A FUSE AND A
POWER SOURCE.

AIM

To assemble a household circuit

comprising three bulbs, three switches,
a fuse and a power source.

APPARATUS REQUIRED
Three bulbs of 25W, 40W, and 60W
respectively, three switches, a fuse wire
of 5 amp., connecting wire, a two-pin
plug, electric board with switch and a
two-pin socket, etc.

THEORY
In the household circuit, all the electrical
appliances are connected in parallel
combination. It works on main supply
220V, 50Hz. For domestic supply, the
electric current of rating 5A is used for
normal electrical appliances, electric
bulb, electric fans, etc. For power
supply, the electric current of rating 15A
is used for heavy load appliances,
electric iron, air conditioner, fridge, etc.
All the switches and fuses are always

connected in series with the appliances

and supply switch respectively.

PROCEDURE
1. Draw a circuit diagram and connect
all the items accordingly
2. Connect all three bulbs B1, B2, B3 in
series with electric switches S1, S2,
S3 respectively.
3. Connect all the three bulb-switch
combination in parallel with each
other.
4. Connect the fuse wire in series with
above combination of bulb and
switches.
5. Now connect both ends of the
circuit with two pin plug.
6. Insert two pin plug in to two pin
socket with main electric board
which is connected in an A.C. power
supply 220V, 50Hz.
7. Now put on the main electric switch
of the main electric board to pass on
the electric current through the
designed circuit.

8. Now switch on switches S1,S2,S3 one

by one to check weather electric
bulbs glows or not.

PRECAUTIONS

1. The insulated wire should be used

for the connections.
2. The uncovered portion or terminals
of wires should be covered with the
electric tapes.
3. The fuse wire should be selected
properly.

CONCLUSION
Experimentally it is found that all the
electric bulbs is glowing properly, hence
the designed circuit is correct.

PHYSICS
ACTIVITY- 2

TO ASSEMBLE THE COMPONENTS OF

A GIVEN ELECTRIC CIRCUIT

AIM
To assemble the components of a given
electric circuit.

APPARATUS REQUIRED
Two resistors, an ammeter, a voltmeter,
a one-way key, a rheostat, a battery,
etc.

PROCEDURE
1. Draw the circuit diagram.
2. Connect both the resistors in series
with a battery through an ammeter,
a rheostat and a one-way key.

3. To measure the potential difference

across the circuit, connect a
voltmeter in parallel with it.
4. To check whether the electric circuit
is working properly or not, insert the
plug in to the switch and adjust the
value of rheostat so that the
voltmeter and the ammeter shows
some observations.
5. It shows that the given components
are connected according to the
electrical circuit. i.e., shows that the
electrical circuit is completed.

PRECAUTIONS
1. All the components must be
connected to the given electrical
circuit
2. To measure electric current, the
ammeter should be connected in
series.

3. To measure potential difference,

voltmeter should be connected in
parallel.

CONCLUSION
The given electric components are
connected according to the given
electric circuit.

PHYSICS
ACTIVITY-3

TO DRAW THE CIRCUIT DIAGRAM OF

A GIVEN OPEN CIRCUIT COMPRISING
ATLEAST A BATTERY, RESISTOR, KEY,
AMMETER AND VOLTMETER. MARK
THE COMPONENTS THAT ARE NOT
CONNECTED PROPERLY AND
CORRECT THE CIRCUIT AND ALSO
THE DIAGRAM.

AIM
To draw a circuit diagram of a given
open circuit comprising at least a
battery, resistor, key, ammeter and
voltmeter. Mark the components that
are not connected in proper order and

correct the circuit and also the circuit

diagram.

APPARATUS REQUIERED
Two resistors, an ammeter, a voltmeter,
a rheostat, a one-way key, a battery etc.

PROCEDURE
1. In open electric circuit, a battery, a
one-way key, a voltmeter an
ammeter, rheostat, two resistors are
not connected in proper way.
2. In the open circuit, an ammeter and
the voltmeter are not connected in
proper place. Connect the ammeter
in series with the resistors and the
voltmeter in parallel with the series
combination of both resistors.
3. Connect the rheostat in series in the
place of series combination of both
resistors.
4. Now draw the correct circuit
diagram.

PRECAUTIONS
1. Ammeter should be connected in
series.
2. Voltmeter should be connected in
parallel.
3. Electric circuit should be
connected tightly and neatly.

RESULT
The correct electric circuit and circuit
diagram is obtained.
