Execution of his eminence Ayatullah al-Shaykh Nimr al-Nimr

Dear Brothers & Sisters, Members of the General Assembly

of the Ahl ul-Bayt (a.s.) World Assembly
As-Salaam Alaykum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuh
The widely-broadcasted reports on the decision of Saudi government for
execution of prominent cleric Ayatollah Sheikh Nimr Baqir Al-Nimr, which is
due on May 14th 2015 according to what is reflected in the media.
Ayatollah Nimr was arrested on January 8th 2012 after being shot near his
house in Al-Sharqiyya region in Saudi Arabia. He was then sentenced to death
for so-called waging war on Allah (Muharibah) on October 15th 2014.
The issuance of this verdict faced vast reactions at the global level.
International political, legal and social organizations around the world
condemned the death penalty and urged the Al Saud regime for the release of
Ayatollah Sheikh Nimr. They warned the Saudi rulers of the execution of an
important religious figure; and announced that this great Muslim scholar in
prison did not deserve such a cruel sentence.
Muslim senior clerics in Qom and Najaf seminaries, too, issued statements
in condemnation of the sentence, declaring that such a threat for execution of
Ayatollah Nimr on the charge of waging war against God is a dangerous
action which puts the position of religious high-ranking scholars and Muslim
clerics at risk.
Taking into consideration our mission in the Ahl ul-bayt(a.s.) World
Assembly, we are bound to protect our sacred and religious symbols;
therefore , we feel that urgent and serious measures are necessary to be
taken by prominent religious leaders, clerics, and personalities in the region

for stopping the Saudi regime from implementation of their idiotic decision in
executing Ayatollah Nimr based on baseless accusation of waging war on
God.
For this imperative matter, there must be done urgent and decisive actions
to stop the execution by the following steps of actions:
1- Direct petition and demand to Saudi government to stop the death
sentence and in the immediate release of Ayatullah Shaykh Nimr Baqir AlNimr.
2- Organizing protests of solidarity in front of Saudi embassies all over the
world.
3- Establishing conferences and speeches in support of the eminent Shaykh.
4- Expressing solidarity with him throughout the media.
5- Contacting governmental and private organizations pertaining to human
rights in taking necessary actions.
We pray God, the Almighty, to support us all in freeing this divine scholar, to
defend the respectable Ayatullah Shaykh Al-Nimr from the idiotic action of
the Saudi regime, and to protect all the jurists, scholars of the nation, and
religious icons from all evil.
