Introduction

Identification of the issue


The Issue that our group have been identify is the high unemployment rate among
management fresh graduate . This is due to lack of employability skills among the management
fresh graduate .
Employability skills can be defined as the variety of skills needed by an individual to
make them employable or get hire. Along with good technical understanding and subject
knowledge , employers often outline a set of skills that they want from an employee .
Yorke and Knight (2003) defined graduate employability as a set of achievements skills,
understandings and personal attributes that makes graduates more likely to gain employment and
be successful in their chosen occupations, which benefits themselves, the workforce, the
community and the economy . They are generally skills that cut horizontally across all industries
and vertically across all jobs from entry level to chief executive officer (Sherer and Eadie, 1987;
Bunt et al., 2005).

Employability skill needed


Interpersonal Skills
Interpersonal skills are the skills we use to interact with other people. Good interpersonal
skills allow fresh graduate to participate effectively as a member of a team, satisfy customers and
clients' expectations, negotiate, make decisions, manage their time efficiently, take responsibility,
and work effectively with other employees. Good interpersonal skills allow them to empathize
and build relationship with colleagues and clients, leading to a better working environment
which can be less stressful.

Communication Skills
Applying a job need a good communication skills. The ability to communicate both
verbally and in writing with a wide variety of people, maintain good eye contact, write clearly
and succinctly, demonstrate a varied vocabulary and tailor fresh graduate language to their
audience are all essential skills that employers seek out. Good verbal and written communication
means fresh graduate can get their messages across with less chance of misunderstanding.

Critical Thinking Skills


Decision making and problem solving require gathering reliable information, evaluating
the information for a variety of solutions and selecting the most appropriate option based on the
criteria and situation .These skills are beneficial to employers as they save time and money.
Creative thinkers are innovative and inventive and are more likely to devise new ways of doing
things that add value to the work environment, making systems and procedures more
efficient. Creative thinkers can offer new perspectives about the job and the company.

Personal development
It is about having the right attitude towards work and the organization we work for.
Employers look for people who are determined to develop and learn. Lifelong learners are
always valued in organizations. In order to stay ahead of the competition, organizations need to
continually learn and develop better ways of doing things. The employee who is open to learning
and accept change will be more successful than the person who is afraid of learning and resistant
to changes in the organization. Most jobs involve change, some more frequently than others, and
employers want people who are adaptable, flexible, and patient, and respond who well to
change.
Personal development is also concerned with how individuals develop their working
practices and attitudes to work. Self-motivation and confidence are key areas of personal

development as is personal appearance and how others perceive us . Self-management skills,


also known as self-control, are the skills we use to manage our personal feelings and how we
react to challenges and problems both at work and in our private lives. Personal development
includes learning to avoid any negative emotions such as anger and stress while developing
assertiveness and effective negotiation skills.
IT Skills
Its all about obtain basic IT skills and being familiar with using a computer . This may
open up a wide range of employment opportunities and increase fresh graduate marketability in
the workplace. It is likely that a modern job will require them to be familiar with at least some
computer applications. Even if fresh graduate know that they will not be using a computer in
their job, it is well worth your while learning some of the basics of information technology, for
example how to send and receive emails, and use word processor and spreadsheet software.
Conclusion

The graduate employment market has become increasingly competitive and is a situation
that is likely to prevail for some time. Employers are now more demanding in what they seek
from applicants. Employers expect graduates to have the technical and discipline competences
from their degrees and require graduates to demonstrate a range of broader skills and attributes
that include team-working, communication, leadership, critical thinking, problem solving and
often managerial abilities or potential . Therefore , the fresh graduate need a strong skill set to be
different from others and attract the employer to employ them . Being good at the one skill
cannot facilitate the competency in other. So todays scenario is that the applicant who is multitasking can sustain and gain in the employment.
