ASU Housing Plan
Introduction
I want to attend Arizona State University, because it has a good nursing program.
Since I am interested in ASU, I wonder how I can be beneficial for housing plan as well. It is
pleasing to know and realize about my future life in college.
Housing Information
Since nursing program is in Downtown Phoenix campus, I might have to be in dorms
or apartment. On campus housing is expensive, but they include meals. If I get an apartment,
the rent is more expensive, and it is not including meals and other expenses.
On Campus Housing
Downtown Phoenix campus residence hall is called Taylor Place. Full year of dorm
costs $8710, and meal plan that I want costs $2726. The meal plan provides 8 meals per
week. Desk, chairs and bed are also provided in dorm. It has community kitchen and laundry
room in where I can cook or do my laundry.

Apartment Housing
I want tan apartment that is close to campus so that I can walk or ride bicycle to
school. This apartment takes 12 minutes to walk and 5 minutes to ride bicycle. It costs $789
and additional $70 for gas, water, electricity, air conditioning etc. Food and personal expenses
will be about $200 monthly. The apartment has internet, lounge and outdoor spaces as well.

Data
Housing on campus is convenient, because students live in school. Students will use
their own room and bathroom, but it is more expensive. The difference is that they should

make their own food frequently in apartment, but they will be involved more in community.
On campus housing is cheaper and easier to get to school.

Housing Reflection
I would choose to live in dorm, because it is cheaper. I can eat and live in campus
which is comfortable. It will be hard for me to go home from campus, because I will not drive
often or have my own car. It will be beneficial for involvement in school. Apartment is more
expensive and has more things to do.
Financial Plan
ASU costs $11240 in a year, and I also need to pay other materials such as book and
supplies. I should be prepared financially in college. Expenses are various for college: dorm,
book, foods and car etc.
Estimated Expenses
From researching of dorm and apartment, I choose to live in dorm. Living in dorm
will be special experience for me, because I leave my house and live in school. I should buy
books and meals in college. Also, I know as I step on something it costs money. Therefore,
expenses are high.

Estimated Income
I want to work in college, but I am not sure if I can. I heard that colleges are busier
and harder, so I would not have time for job. I will apply many scholarships so that I can
receive money from them. Also, I hope my parents would support me until I will be able to
work. Income also can be various, but I might need to look for some other ways to earn
money.
Data
The data below represents the expenses and income. The graph shows which part is
higher or lower. It will demonstrate which part student will prepare more for successful life in
college.

Financial Plan Reflection
Expenses and Income should be similar or income should be more to pay the bills. I
have more expenses which means I need more money. I should get a job on campus or
outside of campus to help my parents to pay together. Also I hope that I can receive more
scholarships. I learned that expenses are expensive, so I need to prepare and get a job in
summer.
Conclusion
This is such a good opportunity to think and investigate about where I should live.
Also, I realized that I need a lot of money to pay dorm and other expenses. I start to think
how I should earn money in college. I hope to attend Arizona State University, and I want to
be prepared well. It will be tough to live through these college and job together, but I will do
my best.
