Political Geography

Introduction:
It is believed that Political Dynasty is a trend here in the Philippines since time
immemorial; allegedly the critical thinking of people is that when a specific name is that
popular when it comes to politics, the society tends to vote its member of the family.
This paper will tackle on how Political Dynasty started and what is it all about also, its
geography. According to Raymond Rozarioet,al they used subtans worked to define
what Political Dynasty; is a series of people from the similar family who are in the
position in government, and it is still one of the complicationsin the Philippine politics
that the administration can not solve. As of 2007, different cities in the Philippines are
being ruled by about 250 Political Dynasties. (Rozarioet,al. 2010) it was embedded in
the study that Political Dynasty is still exist up to the present, society is aware with
regards to the issue but still continuing to vote for them with thinking that this politicians
can help them in order to have a better life than they have and if the recent politician will
run again for the position, it will be depend on the marked that they live. The study
acquire why does Political Dynasty exist up to this present especially that there is an
upcoming election. It is rooted in peoples mind that if a specific name is remembered
nor popular in politics, the tendency is that they will vote for it again, especially if their
name is a remarkable in history. However we dont realize that it is somehow hazardous
because there are candidates that has numerous cases and people is still keep on
voting for them.

What is the root of Political Dynasty?

According to de Dios Philippines made it redundant for the elite to form mass parties. It
is believed that Philippine influential systems had it too easy. Their admission to
authority depended not on the recruitment of sufficient for an ambitious struggle but on
characteristic, often behavior, adjustment with the resident. further than the overcome
Revolution, history did not make available a need for elites to systematize far beyond
their family spheres and personal cliques. As an effect the parties they produced to
this day have consistently been as temporary, surface, and indecisive as the
personality egos around which they revolve. De Dios stated that The exclusion that
analysis the rule is the only impersonal mass party in Philippine history that has been
mildly successful the communist party in its various incarnations. Communist
durability is sustain by the fact they have a continuing foundation whose comprehension
involve important complexity and therefore demands association. The MILF and Moro
characteristics are another instance. The misfortune is that neither of these association
has thus far exposed any awareness in contributing openly in the present political
system. Philippine politics is said to be not broken because dynasties are strong;
rather, dynasties are strong because politics is broken. (de Dios,2012) The main
argument here is that our political system is easy to run for any position. The
requirements were basic thats why any person can run for any position that they want
to. This is the main reason why the Political Dynasty evolved, the system itself. There
are numerous people who wants to run for a specific position and another family
member with a different position. We must evolved our system in order to set a higher
standard of politicians who knows the system very well.

Candari stated that in Article II, Section 26 of 1987 Constitution prohibits the existence
of Political Dynasties. In political science, the latter is equivalent to an oligarchy. In the
present day, the majority of lawmakers are either scions or kingpins of a political clan.
(Candari,nd) there is a law written in our constitution that prohibits Political Dynasty
however in todays event there are numerous government officials and government
employees who are in political clan. As I observed the system we do not recognized the
law becauseup to todays event there are numerous political clan that still exist, and still
running for the position in the government.
According to COMMTEC There are approximately around 250 political families in the
Philippines with at least one in every province. These families hold situation in about
every probable position and all point in government. The Centre for People
Empowerment in Governance, a nonprofit group that promotes additional workers
participation in politics, shapes that there out of the 265 members of the congress 160
of these authorized employment are from families with a long heredity of careers and
arrangement in government. (COMMTEC,2011) this research only shows the numbers
of family member that is in political dynasty here in the Philippines. There are numerous
participants who were in the position in the government, because it was embedded in
the study that there were a lot of names that are still included in the field of politics. As a
stand it doesnt matter what position you are in the service of the government as long as
the political clan is getting bigger in the field. There are also instances where in the
names were different but they are related by blood to ensure that it will be safe in the
field of there position

It is understood in the table that 16 out of 50 families revealed as having been active in
politics employed highest national government positions. If the top local jobs such as
governor and mayor are involved, we find that the nominees were well linked certainly.
Aside form the influencesfamilies have in politics, it is also imperative to a nominee that
there be preparedness on the part of this relative to help him. In turn, such inclination is
frequently guaranteed by the intimacy of the ties. (Laquian, 1966) it is been stated in
the table of number of participants in political arena that somehow is connected with
their family. As noticed, the position that was being held is from highest to lowest
position in the city government. It was also explained that positions high or low is
important to scattered the neither power nor authority of the family. No matter what
angle, each one will help one another to gain power because of each influence.

Conclusion:

The researcher intends to finalize what is Political Dynasty is all about. In the present
day election is going on, and politicians were participating in different forums and
agendas, also they give their different platforms in order to solve the biggest problem
that the Philippine is countering. We tend to be gullible most of the time with Politicians
with their potentials, even though we know within ourselves that it may not exist we still
intend to vote for them. Political Dynasty is somehow problematic because it may also
lead with corruption in the Philippine Context with the reason that it is too much power
for the people who dont deserve it at all and frankly the main reason why they tend to
stay in their position is to hold into power, succession and self interest that they are
currently experiencing. The victim here is the people who can not survive in their day to
day lives. The moral lesson here is that we should know whom to choose and vote to
require power and lead action for the people.
As a Political Science major we should know the essence of Political Dynasty especially
here in the Philippines because it is one of the issues of our system and what it the
essence if it in our history. As part of the remembered names in politics we should
always know what these peoples legacy in history brought in todays society.
