Do you have a talent you have been waiting to share?

This is your chance to show what you have been learning outside of school!
Our Las Lomas Variety Talent Show will take place on Friday, February 3rd. Kinder-2nd grade and 3rd-5th grade
performances will be held during the school day for Las Lomas students. At 6:30pm, all acts will come together to
perform for our Las Lomas parents and community! Please plan to join us for this fun evening!
Our variety talent show will not be auditioned or judged. All interested students should return the attached
application to Mrs. Roeber no later than Friday, December 9th. No late applications will be accepted. If there are
more applications returned than we can permit due to time constraints, a lottery system will be held to enter acts
into the show. There will be 20 acts per grade-level group (kinder/1st/2nd grade and 3rd/4th/5th grade). After the
lottery, notification letters will be sent home on December 16th.
You may perform as a solo or with a group. If you choose to perform with a group, keep in mind that all of the group
members must be in the same grade level group (Kinder/1st/2nd grade or 3rd/4th/5th grade). Please make sure
that all performers in a group have submitted a signed application by the December 9th deadline in order to
participate in the variety talent show.
Examples of possible performances:
Singing (no lip syncing), instrumental, dance/gymnastics routine to music, cheerleading routine, comedy routine or
skit, sports tricks or routine to music, magic tricks, martial arts routine to music, etc. Las Lomas Lions, we know that
you can be proactive and think creatively!!
Available equipment: piano, stereo equipment, microphones, music stand, and tumbling mats. All other equipment,
instruments, and props need to be brought from home.
In order to provide time for as many acts as possible, performances must last between 1 to 2 minutes (i.e.
performing one magic trick is not considered an act). If your music is longer than 2 minutes, you must choose a 2
minute portion or just have us fade it out at the end.
Please keep in mind:
*Your performance must be rehearsed at home. No rehearsal time will be available during school, and independent
practice is necessary in order to honor your commitment to this event. Plan ahead for group practice times.
*All routines must be stage ready (choreographed, rehearsed, ready to perform within 1 1/2 to 2 minutes) at our
screening on Friday, January 27th. If your act is not stage ready at the screening, the next act in the lottery pool will
be given an opportunity to perform in your place.
*All recorded music must be provided by the performer on a CD at or before the January 27th screening. CDs need to be
marked with the performers name and the track number. Please include the name of the song with dance routines.
*Students are responsible for bringing any equipment or costumes for the dress rehearsal (February 2nd) and performances
(February 3rd).
*You must turn in song lyrics with your entry form. All acts will be screened by the Talent Show committee to ensure
they are school appropriate. Acts with inappropriate content (incorporates music/dances with improper language or
innuendos) will not be entered into the show. All decisions made by the Talent Show committee are final. Please double
check song lyrics before you submit your application! Please note that mainstream popular songs may not be
appropriate in the school setting. If you are in doubt about the appropriateness, please select a different song.
*You may not make changes to your act after submitting your application. (ie: change of song, adding group
members, etc.)
*All costumes must be modest in style.
