STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Introduction

This very quote has repeatedly inspired me to have utmost faith in myself and achieve goals
that I thought were not possible for me to do. Goals are where horizons meet reality. These
goals are nurtured with ample determination and backed by resilience which can turn into
achievements. I believe learning is an endless process and education is the foundation for
attaining deeper thinking skills. No matter the age of a person, we all continuously learn
and this is what has motivatedme to continue my educational journey.
The right information and the means to use it intelligently can provide an organization an
edge over its competitors. Businesses are increasingly looking towards technology not only
to realize their short term goals but also to place them strategically for their long term
success. This strategy and smart application of technology in Business Processes and
Analytics captivates me. As the process of globalization has reached the frontiers of
business, education and technology; it is the only indispensable way for the global
organizations to face the challenges of the ever evolving field of technology. I aspire,
therefore, to pursue Big Data Analytics Graduate Certificate at your esteemed college.

Academic Background
Throughout my education, I always exhibited a high level of competency and proficiency. I
was always an all-rounder with interests in academics, sports and arts. Having scored good
marks in my higher secondary education, I went on to equip myself with an undergraduate
degree in Information Technology, (BE & BCA) and Management (DBA) and studying
subjects like Human Resource Management ,Management Principles, Database
Management Systems, Probability and Statistics ,Management Information System etc.
while still pursuing my sports career.
After my bachelors I went onto to pursue Masters in Business and IT (MBA&PGDM) and
studied subjects like Project Management, Production and Operations Management, Ecommerce, C++ Programming, Python Programming, Fundamental of Computers and
Networks, Cyber Forensics, Network Defense and Countermeasures, PKI and Biometrics
Concepts and Planning etc.
I went on to do few projects, industrial trainings and interships like Six Sigma Green Belt
certification, MCP & CCNA training, SAS training, internship with BHEL in Marketing

Research and the most recent certificate training from the prestigiousIIT Hyderabad for
the Advanced Business Analytics R certification wherein I studied subjects like
Foundation of Statistics, Linear & Logistic Regression, Clustering, Time series analysis,
Market Basket analysis, Text Mining using R etc. It was during the training period in IIT
Hyderabad that my teachers instilled in me a strong inclination towards Business
Intelligence, Analytics and Data Science.
My internship in marketing research analytics for BHEL India was to test efficiency of the
hydro and diesel power plants under it. Various statistical and analytical tools and
techniques were used in this, like ANOVA and Moving average method to do predictive
analysis of the hydro plant output and other statistical techniques to indicate the phasing
out of the diesel plants.
I have undergone MCP/CCNA aka Networking Industrial training at NSIC Delhi using
Packet Tracer software. I also did Base SAS training from IISASTR Delhi. I have taken Six
Sigma Green Belt certification from ISI Delhi and used quality assurance tools and
techniques like CTQ, Fishbone diagram, Pareto Chart, Run chart, Control chart under the
DMAIC procedure to calculate the quality improvement in powerlifting lifts.
I aspire to pursue BDAT at Georgian College Barriebecause of my strong interest in
information technology and its applications to analytics and business in general. I have
seen how information systems can serve as a bridge between technology and business by
supporting its planning, operations and critical decision making. Now through this
program I desire to refine my skills and deliver technology-driven business solutions for
global organizations to meet their strategic objectives.

Why Georgian College?
I funneled down to Georgian College, Barrie, Ontario because of itsexcellent faculty and
resources which makes it an ideal place to pursue the graduate certificate and help me
meet my goals. The one-year program offered exposes to a variety of application for Big
Data Analytics. I am confident that studying at Georgian College will empower me with
sound knowledge of the basic principles of this field and help me acquire the necessary
skills to reach my goal. The courses offered are well-balanced that it will help me in
leveraging my existing knowledge and experience.

Also Barrie is a fast developing city with huge economic potential. Particular in the field of
Big Data Analytics, bigcompanies like Cogeco and IBM have data centers in Barrie,
besides banks like TD bank which is also involved in financial analytics.
Why Big Data Analytics?
The course modules of Big Data Analytics Ontario College Graduate Certificate program
are well-balanced that will help me in leveraging my existing knowledge and experience.
Further, I am familiar with the course outline and have studied some subjects in my
previous certifications. But this course is more technical and detailed compared to my
previous certification. So, to get a good technicalgrip, exposure and in-depth knowledge and
skills in this particular field, I plan to pursue this course.

Why Canada?
Getting graduated from a country like Canada with confluence of people from every
culture, nationality, religion and ideology, I am sure exposure to these kinds of diverse
influences would aid in the overall development of my personality. Canada welcomes
international students with warm hospitality, respect different perspectives and encourage
learning together. Canada is a secular, open minded and tolerant country which gives a
good environment to pursue studies peacefully. Tuition fees and living expenses are also in
favorof Canada when compared to other countries with equally good education system. So I
believe Canada with its developed first-rate education system is the best option I can go for.

Family Background
My father is a former senior-scientist Level- F (Botany) at CSIR(Govt.of India), Delhi, India.
My mother is a former senior-scientist Level-F (Statistics & Demographics) at CSIR(Govt.of
India),Delhi,India. My elder sister is a Graphic Artist (Gazetted Officer) at CEC(UGC),
Delhi,India. I hail from a well-established family and have enough funds to cover my
expenses while in Canada.
Sponsor Details
My parents have sponsored me the fees for the program and also opened GIC from Scotia
Bank for CAD 10250. My parents will be supporting me during my stay in Canada.
Conclusion
Doing this course will give me international experience and exposure. After this I can opt
for either of the following PhD/Teaching/Working in MNC/Govt Sector in India/Canada or

any other international country as and when the best possible opportunity shows up as
Business Intelligence/Analytics/Data Science/Big Data Analytics is a booming field
currently and lot of research and interest is going around it. I may even use this for sports
analytics.
I would like to enhance my job prospects so that I can find a good paying job that I enjoy,
while also be able to provide for my family. My previous education has helped me get
admission to Georgian College Barrie. I have also given my IELTSon 12 march 2016 and
scored an overall band score of 7.5. In addition, I have paid the 1st Semester fees of
CAD7301 and also have my GIC certificate of CAD 10,250. I meet all qualifications
required for Georgian College Barrie and truly hope that I will be able to start my course
