Safety tests:
Mercedes-Benz child seats are based on popular, technically mature products produced by
the renowned company Britax-Rmer. All safety tests prescribed by law are carried out by
the supplier (as per ECE 44.03 44.04).
In Daimler series development the level of protection and the compatibility with all Mercedes-Benz
passenger cars is tested again.

Automatic child seat recognition:

Only Mercedes-Benz child seats offer integral transponders (as an option or as standard) which are
recognised by the vehicles automatic child seat recognition system, if fitted.
To protect the child, this combination deactivates the front passenger airbag when the child seat is
fitted to
the front passenger seat.
Only Mercedes-Benz child seats offer automatic child seat recognition. Seats with this system are
not available commercially!

The three seat groups are based on the weight, height and age of the child

Child seat requirements

up to approx. 9 monthsGroup 0/0+: seats must only be fitted so that child has back to
direction of travel. This helps prevent injury to neck vertebrae. If seats
up to approx. 15 months
are used on front passenger seat, airbag must be deactivated

(younger children) 9 - 18 kg approx. 8 months

approx. 4 years
(older children) 15 - 25 kg approx. 3.5 - 7 years
(older children) 22 - 36 kg approx. 6 - 12 years

Group I: in Group 1 seats, children are usually held in place by harness

straps. There are also seats with impact shields and ones in which children
have their back to the direction of travel. These are considered particularly
safe
Group II/III: children are strapped into these seats using the three-point
seat belt. The seats compensate for the occupants lack of body size. Side
bolsters provide protection in the event of a crash
