1. Make final decision on your teams design project (SSBJ, Advanced Military
Trainer, BWB Cargo Plane, More Electric Transport), elect your teams leader.
2. Find all related aircrafts technology/product in last 10 years.
3. Set up your teams design goals: cruise altitude, endurance, cruise speed, range,
take-off and landing field length, take-off weight, payload, production quantity,
production cost, maintainability, technological feasibility, and economical
feasibility, etc.
4. Add all the innovation that you can think of for your aircraft.
Answer1:Our topic is Advanced Military Trainer. The team leader is Kai Wu.
Answer2:
M-346 Master Advanced Fighter Trainer
M-346 weapons
Armaments are carried on nine external store stations, six of which are underwing, equipped
with 1,000lb class ejector release units, and two wingtip stations for air-to-air missiles. The
under-fuselage station carries avionics pods or a 300l conformal fuel tank.
The system data presentation and control functions of the stores management system use
any one of the multifunction displays in both cockpits. Hands-on throttle and stick (HOTAS)
controls are used to select the weapons. Weapon aiming is controlled by the central main
processor, aiming data being presented to the pilots through the head-up display (HUD) or
the helmet-mounted display (HMD).
"The weapons carried by the M-346 include MK82 500lb and MK83 1,000lb free-fall or
retarded bombs."
The weapons carried include: MK82 500lb and MK83 1,000lb free fall or retarded bombs;
rocket launchers; AIM-9 Sidewinder short-range air-to-air missiles; Raytheon AGM-65
Maverick air-to-ground missiles; MBDA (formerly Alenia) Marte MK-2A anti-ship missiles.
The external hard points can also carry the Vinten VICON-601 reconnaissance pod, laser
designator pod, radar warning receiver pod and Elettronica ELT-55 electronic
countermeasures pod.
For fighter trainer role, self-protection system functions and simulated tactical scenario
threats are presented and monitored on the multifunction displays.
For operational roles, the aircraft is fitted with a radar warning receiver, chaff and flares
dispensers, and active electronic countermeasures.
Performance:

The M-346 can climb at the rate of 127m/s. The maximum and cruise speed of the aircraft
are 1,092km/h and 1,059km/h respectively. Its stall speed is 166km/h. The range and service
ceiling of the M-346 are 2,590km and 13,700m respectively. Its take-off run is 320m, while
the landing run is 470m. The aircraft weighs around 4,610kg and its maximum take-off
weight is 9,000kg

AT-3 Jet trainer

Design of the Chinese AIDC trainer aircraft
The AT-3 is of low wing monoplane design. The aircraft was designed to operate on dirt
airstrips and short runways even in hostile environments.
It is equipped with two main fuel tanks and two external fuel tanks underneath the wings.
The capacities of the main and external tanks are 1,630 litres and 1,136 litres respectively.
The wings and fuselage are constructed with light alloys, steel, magnesium and ultra-light
graphite fiber composites to reduce the overall weight of the aircraft compared to
conventional jet trainers.
The AT-3 features a fully digital glass cockpit enclosed by a bubble shaped canopy that
opens rightward. The cockpit can conciliate two crew members, including trainee pilot and
flight instructor in tandem seat configuration.
It is fitted with two zero by zero Martin Baker ten ejection seats. The rear seat is slightly
raised by 0.3m to render clear visibility.
The cockpit is equipped with a head-up display, a radar display, Doppler radar, forward
looking infra-red system, a radar warning receiver and voice over recorder. It also has
communication and navigation equipment, inertial navigation system, UHF radio and
standby compass.
The avionics suite installed in the AT-3 includes identification of friend or foe, tactical air
navigation system, attitude and heading reference system, a global positioning system,
distance measuring equipment, instrument landing system and angle of attack indicator.
Garrett TFE731-2 engines
The AT-3 is powered by two Garrett TFE731-2 turbofan engines designed and built by
Honeywell Aerospace.
"The AT-3 is a two-seater modern trainer or ground attack aircraft."

Each engine produces 15.6kN of thrust. The engin features a single-stage high-pressure
turbine, a three-stage low-pressure turbine, annular combustors, digital electronic engine
control (DEEC) and a single centrifugal high-pressure compressor stage.
The engine is 1.27m long and has 1.0m diameter. The dry weight is 333kg.
The AT-3 can climb at the rate of 51.3m/s. The maximum and cruise speeds of the aircraft
are 904km/h and 880km/h respectively. The range is 2,280km. The service ceiling is
14,650m.

L-15 Supersonic Trainer

L-15 design
HAIG unveiled the L-15 aircraft design in September 2001 during the 9th Aviation exhibition
in Beijing. The large leading edge extensions (LEX) design allows the aircraft to offer a
maximum angle of attack of 30. The aircraft can also be changed into light air-to-ground
attack aircraft with minor modifications.
The aircraft has been designed to train pilots of the third-generation fighters encompassing
Su-27, Su-30, J-10, and J-11. The enhanced design provides safety to the pilot while cutting
down the training cost compared to its rivals.
Performance
The Hongdu L-15 can climb at the rate of 150m/s. Its maximum speed is 1,715km/h. The
range and combat radius of the aircraft are 3,100km and 550km respectively. The service
ceiling of the aircraft is 16,000m. Its maximum loitering time is two hours. The aircraft weighs
around 4,960kg and its maximum take-off weight is 9,500kg.

T-50 trainer
Landing gear
The aircraft is equipped with Messier Dowty retractable tricycle-type landing gear. Each unit
is single wheeled and fitted with oleo pneumatic shock absorbers. The main wheels are
retracted into the trunks of the engine air intakes. The nose wheel retracts forward.
T-50 performance

The T-50 can fly at a maximum speed of 1,837km per hour. The range and service ceiling of
the aircraft are 1,851km and 16,764m respectively. The service life is 10,000 hours.
