Mr. Mohamed Sayid Hussein is a 26 years old male from Egypt who was diagnosed with spinal cord
tumor in2010. He had done Spinal cord tumor resection surgery twice in 2010 and 2013.After the
surgery in May in 2010, his spinal cord function decline. After the surgery in2013, his situation got
worse, and he was diagnosed with spinal cord injury. His left foot couldnt move he couldnt control
his urine and stool well.
In currently, his left foot cannot move, and has no feeling, his right foot movement is very weak. He
has no feelings from thighs to the knees.

Assistant Examination:
CT scan of dorsal spine: Taken on 15/10/2014:Stationary course as regard post-operative changes
related to D10-11 down to L1-2 spinolaminectomies and posterior sagging of the thecal sac as well as
heterogeneously enhanced septations. Stationary course as regard D10 down to L4 post-radiotherapy
yellow marrow conversion. Mild degenerative spondylosis.
CT scan of dorsal spine: Taken on 09/06/2012:Status post D12-L1 down to L2-L3 spinolaminectomy
with operative bed extra medullary recurrent/residual enhanced mass lesion for clinical correlation.

From my experience, this patient can be a candidate for stem cell treatment, he is young and
his general health condition is good which are all favorable conditions to promote the effect
from stem cell transplantation, there is still potential capacity for this patient to gain some
neurological functions improved. As having treated many cases of spinal cord injury with
stem cell transplantation, we speculate the possible improvements for this patient may be on
muscle power and tone, sensation feeling of his body, feeling of bowel and urines movement
etc .However , the time of the injury is short, so the effect of stem cell treatment may
increase.
With further evaluation when he comes, if there is no contradiction, we are considering
transplanting stem cells to him by locale operation to clean scars, bone fragments and
separate nerves with one time of local injection(Nerve graft implantation),combined with
one time of lumber puncture injection within 3 weeks. For then we suggest this patient take 6
months physical therapy in his country.

3. Eligibility and suitability for Stem Cell Treatment:

The patient is young and his general situation is good, and he has showed some improvement
after the injury, which indicate the patient still has potential to recover some function.
The stem cell treatment will help his condition in two mechanisms: The stem cells injected will
differentiate into new functional neurons, they also can produce nutrition factors to repair the
lesion area. And some stem cells can get into blood then strengthened muscles on his legs.
The Stem Cell Treatment is not a cure for spinal cord injury in one circle of the treatment and
can NOT correct all the deficits which this patient is suffering from. However, as the patient is in
appropriate condition, we consider he may have some good response from the Stem Cell
Treatment. The patients muscle strength of lower limbs, legs movement, sensation under injured
level, sense and control ability of urine and bowels movement can be improved.
It is important to understand that every patient is different and the response of each patient will
depends on the level of disability, the age of the patient, related health conditions etc. However,
the injury is complete and the suffering course is long, it is possible that the improvement may
be not very satisfying. Longer recovery time or more injections in future may be necessary.
4. Neurologist Recommended medical plan

Stem Cell Implantations: four times of lumber puncture injection, within 3 weeks;
Daily IV of Medicines, neural nutrition and protection;
Physical and Occupational therapy sessions, Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM),and
acupuncture.

5.Details of the treatment:

I. Self stem cell activation and proliferation program
This program takes 3 weeks of stay in the Hospital.
1.Upon arrival at the hospital, the patient will be given standard tests to check health and the details
of current condition. A thorough evaluation of the neurological function and understanding of the
lesion or pathological change of the central neural system will be established by the medical team.
2 According to the condition, a medical plan will be designed. We will use medications to prepare
and enhance the microenvironment in the patient's central nervous system, to support and protect
the stem cells which will be injected.

3. The self activation and proliferation treatment will than start, we treat the patients by waking up
the sleeping stem cells through oral medication and IV medications.
Through the treatment period we will be following up and evaluate his neurological function and
improvement.
II.. Rehabilitation The rehabilitation sessions will begin at the first week of admission after all
initial tests are made. We will use professional kind of rehabilitation methods of Physical Therapy,
Occupational Therapy, and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
6.The Estimate Cost and Payment
The estimate cost is 180,000 Chinese RMB (about 29,000USD).
Payment can be made in most foreign currencies according to the exchange rate on the day of
payment.
The charge includes:

Daily IV of medicines;
Stem cell treatment; four times of lumber puncture injection
Daily physiotherapy and occupational therapy sessions;
Acupuncture (or other Traditional Chinese Medicine treatments) ;
One standard room fee for the patient AND for 1-2 accompanying family member(s);
General medical services; Doctors visits and examinations, laboratory tests, etc.

The charge doesnt include:

Food;
Discharge medicine;
Unexpected treatment and examinations;
Treatment for unrelated disease;
Unexpected emergency management;
Other unexpected expenses.

The evaluation was made based on the patients condition we learned during the consultation. We
will re-evaluate on each patients condition after admission. If there is any evident difference from
what we learned during the consultation, the treatment plan might be changed, and the cost may be
changed accordingly.
