In order to accommodate the varying
needs of students various forms of
differentiation have been incorporated
into the resource.
Aim- This%web%2.0%resource%aims%to%provide%students%with%the%opportunity%to%be%
independent%in%their%learning%through%demonstrating%initiative%and%individual%
responsibility%and%accountability%for%their%learning.%In%order%to%achieve%this%
the%resource%is%student%centered%through%engaging%students%in%an%inquiry=
based%approach.%%As%a%result%the%resource%incorporates%this%approach%
throughout%with%the%inclusion%of%questioning,%creativity,%gathering%
information%through%the%research%process%and%using%the%human%senses%to%
make%sense%of%concepts.%Thus,%ensuring%that%students%are%able%to%direct%their%
learning%and%gain%support%from%the%teacher%where%necessary.%%
Students%will%be%introduced%
to%the%resource%and%what%this%
means%for%their%learning.%
They%will%be%able%to%build%
understandings%about%how%it%
is%to%be%used%through%the
explanation%of its various%
features.%This%includes%the%
use%of%links%to%outside%
websites.%The%remainder%of%
this%lesson%is%dedicated%to%
beginning%the%learning%
journey%by%watching%a%video%
and%choosing%an%activity%to%do%
based%on%individual%learning%
styles.% %
Lesson 2
After%gaining%an%understanding%of%
the%various%types%of%adaptations%
students%are%able%to%choose%an%
Australian%animal%and%become%an%
expert%on%its%adaptations.%In%order%
to%demonstrate%their%
understandings%students%are%
required%to%share%their%learning%
with%the%remainder%of%the%class%
through%posting%their%ideas%on%the%
class%blog.%To%maintain%
communication%between%the%class%
students%are%also%required%to%
respond%to%a%minimum%of%two%
other%posts.%
Lesson 3
With%a%clear%understanding%of%
the%various%types%of%
adaptations,%which%Australian%
animals%require%to%survive%in%
their%environment,%students%are%
able%to%apply%these%
understandings%by%creating%
their%very%own%animal.%In%order
to%demonstrate%their%
understandings students%must%
justify%the features%of their%
chosen%animal%by explaining%its
adaptations%and%what this%
means for their survival.
Lesson 4
To%conclude%students%
understandings%they%will%
be%able%to%explore%the%
night%time%wildlife%in%an%
interactive%website.%
Students%will%need%to%
create%a%popplet%
highlighting%the%
adaptations%of%a%selected%
Australian%animal.%This%
will%be%shared%with%the%
other%students%through%
placing%it%on%the%Edmodo%
class%page.%%%
