What are We Doing?

Throughoutthesemester,youvelearnedmoreaboutthewritingprocess,howyouviewwriting,howtostart
helpingotherswiththeirwriting,andselectedanareaofscholarshiptospecializeinandstartedresearchingit.
Inyourfinalprojectforthissemester,youllbetakingyourspecializationfromProject2astepfurtherand
synthesizingtheresearchyoufocusedonintoasetoftextsdesignedtopushtakethistopicforward.

How are We Doing It?

Youllbetakingoneoftwopaths:
1. TheResearchDesignYoullbechoosingtodesignyourownoriginalresearchprojectthatcould
beconductedintheReadingandWritingCenteratFSU,accompaniedbyahandoutthatcouldbe
usedtoexplainthisresearchdesigntosomeonethroughthoughtfuluseofpagelayoutanddesign.
2. TheDigitalDesignYoullbecreatingadigitaltextthatsynthesizesyourresearchforanaudience
onFSUscampus,accompaniedbyanindepthreflective,alphabeticallydriventextthatexplainsthe
choicesyoumadeincreatingyourdigitaltext.

Bothoftheseapproacheswillleadtotheproductionofslightlydifferentversionsof:
Atextrequiringsomedigitalorvisualdesigncomponents.
Anindepthandtheorybasedalphabetictext.

FortheResearchDesignyoullwantto
1. ReturntoyourresearchfromProject2andthinkabouthowyourspecialtyareahasbeendefinedin
thescholarshipatlarge.
2. DevelopaquestionregardingyourspecialtyandhowitmanifestsintheFSURWC.
3. Developmethodsforhowtogettheanswertoyourquestion.
4. Submitaproposaltomewithyourresearchquestionsandmethods.
5. Refineyourresearchdesignbasedonmyfeedbackandfeedbackfromyourpeers.
6. Createa2,000+wordresearchproposalthatindicatesyourexigence,whattheoriesyourebuilding
on,andwhatmethodsyouwouldutilizetocompleteyourproject.
7. Designavisuallyappealinghandoutthatexplainsyourresearchdesign.
8. Submitareflectiontoaccompanyyourtext.


FortheDigitalDesignyoullwantto
1. ReturntoyourtopicfromProject2andthinkaboutthemedium,genre,andaudiencethatwould
makethemostsensetotarget.
2. Submitaproposaltomewithbasicinformationaboutyourplans.
3. CreateadigitallydriventextthatsynthesizesthefindingsofyourProject2research.
4. Createanindepthreflectionexplainingthechoicesyoumaderegardingtopicsincluding(butnot
necessarilyneedingtoaddressallofthem)

f. Software/hardwareused.
g. Theprocessofcreatingthetext.
h. Anythingelserelevantinthecreationofthedigitaltext
5. Notethatthereflectiondoesntneedtohaveasformalof2,000wordsthatmakeupthe
ResearchDesignapproach,butitdoess tillneedtointelligentlydiscussthetopicsabove.
6. Refineyourplansanddigitaltextbasedonmyfeedbackandfeedbackfromyourpeers.
