To federally fund a full conversion from fossil fueled powered cars to electric cars.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE
This act may be cited as the Cars of the Future Act of 2016.
SECTION 2. FINDINGS
Congress hereby finds and declares that,
1) Cars and trucks together account for 1/5 of all US emissions.
2) Greenhouse gas emission has increased 17 percent since 1990.
3) Cars cause 63 percent of all transportation greenhouse gasses.
4) In 2015, 104.43 billion gallons of gasoline was consumed in the United States.
5) In 2014, 80 percent of petroleum was imported into the United States.
6) In 2009, the average American spent 2,000 dollars on gas per year.
7) Todays car batteries last 12 to 15 years, much longer than the average car.
8) Using hybrid and plug-in electric vehicles can reduce U.S. reliance on imported petroleum.
9) The average fossil fuel powered car in 2015 costs 33,650 dollars.
10) The average price for an electric car in 2015 is 32,769 dollars.

SECTION 3. STATUTORY LANGUAGE


A) The Cars of The Future Act of 2016 will enforce that by 2025, all vehicles on any type of government owned
roads must be powered by electricity or other renewable energy sources and not fossil fuels of any kind. The
presence of gas stations will be replaced by charging stations.
B) The U.S Department Of Transportation will fund the program through tax revenues of 25% collected from the
people of the United States of America.
C) The Cars of the Future Act of 2016 shall be enacted on January 1, 2025. The citizens who make the switch will be
compensated with a two thousand dollar credit towards their electric car purchase.
